Would you agree that some of the biggest critics of ham radio and ham radio operatoprs are ham rado operators themselves ? I mean this in a good way. Self critique is often a sign of modesty, ability to look at oneself with a critical eye and, havinng a sense of humor.

I can think of a few hams who are big critics of ham radio and other ops, and they are complete assholes. Is that what you had in mind?

If you want hams in the original sense of the word critical of Amateur, with the emphasis on AMATEUR Radio, look no farther than Hamsexy.

"Speaking of amateur radio, this is WOR in New York.

I have an mp3 audio commentary in the archives that fits perfectly. Boogar Daniels, one of those assholes complaining in a 4 Land accent about CBers become hams who bring CB lingo with them and new hams who don't know how to operate properly and measure up his high standards. I use that term "high standards" lightly because the accent aside he drawls on and on like a CBer from New York with a fake Texas accent who has absorbed enough alcohol to qualify as a distillery. Shades of channel 19 in the days of Breaker Breaker and Convoy when every Kid Asshole and his Uncle Fart just HAD to get one of those Cee Bee things! That's why I quit CB and sold my equipment, some years later to get my ham license. If more hams were like HIM there would be some more expensive radios up for sale about now.

What's been aggravating me since this thread started is it fits so well but it's not on You Tube, I don't have a site to post it to, Google turns up lots of boogers and lots of Daniels but no "Boogar Daniels" except for one of his quotes about "CB waterheads" on Q R You Know Who so I can't link to it if it's out there someplace. I know you'd love to hear it, the screwballs on Hamsexy even more, but I'm at a loss here. Any ideas if somebody's interested?

Not entirely. While the average person knows very little about ham radio I have gotten very positive comments regarding ham radio from the general public. Many people see it as a worthy privilege that is both educational and a useful service to the community i.e. such as being a communications link in a disaster, etc. Now, if some of those people were to visit a hamfest or view some of the ham radio forums and videos of meet some of the people involved their positive opinions may degrade quite rapidly.

THOSE moonspots are influenced by the gravity of Uranus. If you have hemorrhoids in Uranus it's a grave-itation situation. Regular moonspots affect radio propagation, if you get off Uranus and work EME.

If some of those people visit our little Island hideaway they'd fall all over each other racing to get their licenses and join us with or without those ugly antennas cluttering up their roofs.
