The plan is to actually put in some effort this year. The last few years I've been slacking off.

Maybe I'll run into one or two of you.

Holy shit. Not another contest. They just finished one. Those guys in Delaware are so unscrupulous, that they use the WARC bands, and run 15 KW...... from their Chevy Suburbans, no less. I wasn't probably going to get on the air this weekend anyway, but it's the whole contest idea of it. And, I'm sure someone will be using MY frequency. And those poor guys on the MMN will probably have to deal with contester interference. And what about the ham Information Frequency of .313? Oh the humanity. I just knew that instead of amateur radio, I should have taken up amateur gynecology.

Another DEQP shaping up to be disappointment. Either I'm picking bad spots on the bands, or everyone is out doing whatever it is they do to prepare for tomorrow.

The fact that most Americans west of the Susquehanna don't even know that Delaware is a state might have something to do with it as well:

"Delaware? Isn't that one of those tiny little islands off the coast of Iowa or something?"

Getting practice in so when I'm as old as you, I'm as good as you.

If I didn't have such a high noise level on 75m, this would have been a lot easier..

Meh, Hawaiian QSOs are a dime a dozen out this way. The fact that there's nothing but salt water between here and there helps a lot.

The same can be said for EU and the East Coast. How many DLs, Gs, EAs, and SPs would you like to work? Can't swing a dead cat without hitting any of those, from here.

My comments to be sent in with my log:

"Disappointing results this year. Nothing like I remembered from 2010. 10m and 15m were a big letdown. 20m was barely adequate and 80m was practically non-exsistent. Runs of stations usually numbered less than 10 at a time, followed by long lengths of calling and calling with no results. 40m was the only band that even came close to producing a reasonable level of QSOs. Since I couldn't seem to generate much of a run on any band I tried, I gave up at 15:32z on day 2 with a paltry 274 QSOs, all phone. The only bright spot for the entire contest was WH7DX on 80m phone. Maybe we need another snow storm like in 2010?"

I'm going to have to re-evaluate further participation....
