Some neat pix of old gas stations. I wonder what happened to the B-17 in the first one? Probably a real hoot in high winds

Cool pix, nice find, Eddie.

Premium gas was was still only about twenty-six cents a gallon when I got my first car in the early Seventies.

My first car was a '48 Chevy "Hump Trunk" (Fleetline).
Gas was as low as 19 cents/gal. I could tool around town
all night on "a bucks worth of regular" (1957).

And for five cents (+ deposit):

Nice, I love the old "fatboy" cars.

My mom drove one of these for quite a while 'cause my Dad wanted one. :)

Never mind the gas and cars, those were the days when we built beer can verticals and used Coke bottles for base insulators. Imagine, a junk box zepp approved by the Board Of Fire Underwriters (the NEC is based on) and IT REALLY WORKS!

All a bit before my time I'm afraid. Looks like fun though. Call me back when The Beatles get here. :)

And you didn't need a gin pole. ;)

I've been trying to build one of those for years, but the fuckin solder won't stick.

Back in those days, the beer cans were made of steel.

You can't solder aluminum cans; although if you could,

your h-brew vertical wouldn't eventually crumble due to rust.

I beg to differ. It's quite possible to solder aluminum, you just have to use the right materials and be diligent about cleaning off the oxides first. Here's an overview (http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Is_it_possible_to_solder_aluminum).

Oh good grief, looks like when you get nasty drunk on beer, gin, beverage, and get all worked up over a phallic symbol you argue over soldering aluminium. Wouldn't you rather smoke some weed, get mellowed out and stop worrying about the antenna turning to rust? That's the best way to have an antenna party, when you go to get some munchies and get lost or forget where you put the round tuit, just come back before a squirrel filches your beer cans.

That swill will probably kill the squirrel.

You have to clean the snake piss off of the wire first, Eddie!!

LOL. A local rib place has it on special a couple nights each week for $1.25. Not too bad for a retro-buzz. Cheap too.

I'm waiting for the Schlitz Blitz and the second seal of the Apocalypse will be broken.
