I'm looking for an amplifier for use with my QRP rigs. Need about 25 fo 50 watts out, with .5 to 4 watts in, covering 1.8 to 30 MHz.
If you're into kits, this one would do the job for (looks like) $50.

Kits are no problem, and really preferred. I have looked at pretty much all I could find, and did check this one out. I went to the site, and at last posting is appears they had some issues with the new release, and went back to the previous one. This isn't a problem, but I am waiting for a reply to an email enquiry with some questions. To be honest, parts are not an issue, and if I can find a quality PCB of a good broadband design, and adequate band pass filtering, I'd pick it up. I just have no desire to etch boards anymore.
Thanks for the post.
Look for a used Yaesu FL-110.

Those are nice little amps, but don't come up too often. Those on Ebay are usually higher than giraffe nuts.

I finally got ahold of Kees (K5BCQ), and he has some of the original version amps available, as well as the band pass kits. As soon as he gets me a final quote, I will be ordering the amp and BP kits. Since I won't have full use of my left hand for awhile, I am getting both of the BP kits, one you have to wind the toroids, (which I can't d right now) and the other uses chip inductors. I'll post the progress as it happens.

Well, I was just getting ready to pull the trigger on an amp kit and BPF kit from K5BCQ, and stumbled across an FL-110 a guy was selling. I went ahead and bought it, since I can be assured of 30-40 watts out from either the IC-703 or the FT-817. I plan to use one of them for digital when I get the shack reworked. I have to down size everything because besides being a radio shack, a place to repair radios and other shit, a clock repair area, etc., my wife thinks she needs an new area in which to sew. I say bullshit, but it will give us more room in the bathroom.

So, have you started repairing clocks again?

I have time on my hands.
Actually, it will be awhile before I get full use of my left hand back. I just had the surgery a week ago, and it will take awhile to heal up. But when I do, I'll be delighted to do a clock for you. It may run backwards when I'm done with it, but at least you will have something in common with it.

Since you can only work on clocks with two hands, I guess that means you don't repair digital?

I always ask for seconds when I work on clocks with three hands.

That was an easy problem for me. I just binge on pretzels, broccoli and liverwurst. After that my wife could not stand to be in the same room with me! :yuck: Of course I got my own man-cave with an air tight door.

Advantage - its already built.
Disadvantage - finding the output pair in case of a disaster.

Well, the guy I bought it from said it was in good physical and operational condx. The pix looked good, and even if there is an issue, I have plenty of MRF devices rat-holed for most any occasions. To be honest, I was kinda looking forward to building it, but I really don't have the time.
