HNY! Hope to see you all on the radio in the coming year.

Not me unfortunately. Just got a $5k notice that somebody in the family messed with one of those online "loan" places and put some stuff they didn't own as collateral without telling me. Now i gotta dig their wothless ass out so i dont lose my shit. No radio purchase for me this year

And i was just getting back on my feet financially

What a way to start the new year. :(

Well, that really blows. Maybe it was just the end of a particularly miserable year, and 2014 will smile upon you. I am the ultimate pessimist, and even I won't curse the new year until it's at least 2 weeks old, although I have made exceptions.

Perhaps said family member will suffer a long term bleeding hemorrhoid.

With that pleasant thought, I bid everyone a Happy New Year! I shall now retreat to my pain and suffering from the worst case of the flu I've had since 06. Hurrah.

HNY to all.

We'll be vegging in front of the TV for once. My sister-in-law cancelled her annual party, after 16 years. She got tired of cleaning up, setting up, hosting, and cleaning up again. (Even though we offered to pitch in... "no, no, no, I have it all under control!" Yeah, right). I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet.

Now, I'm not a lawyer, but... isn't this fraud? Can they really confiscate your stuff if you didn't authorize the use of the item(s) in question as collateral? Not saying you should leave a family member out to dry, but why should you suffer because someone else pulled this kind of stunt?

I agree with this. A fraud has been committed.

Live long and prosper.

To offset the bad news, I have some good news. The short version of my 75M piss and moan began nearly a year ago when while riding my bike I was hit by a car, typical case of a driver not watching where he was going. My right foot was wounded and because of PAD, poor circulation in my legs it wouldn't heal resulting in 2013 being a year of Friday the 13th, Jason and all. With our farked up health care, an outpatient must do all the investigating, finding which specialists to see and if they accept the patient's insurance. To make life interesting, state Medicaid was privatized into several HMOs so if the doctor or facility is out of network the patient is out of luck. FINALLY a few months ago things came together, I'm seeing several, each treating one thing or another and the most difficult to find is pain management. Once accepted and in the program it becomes a bit of an experiment to work out a good program, with regulations up the wazoo thanks to narcotics abuse. OK, that all taken care of the next step was angioplasty to unclog my right leg, the worse one and the one with the wounded foot so it may heal. That takes time but I'm patient, or should I say A patient? (;->) When that's healed they Roto Rooter the left one but I'm starting the New Year on the right foot, literally. After nearly a year of pain and misery the light at the end of the tunnel isn't a train!

Today I got a nonstandard wish from the last of my Jewish friends, one of 40+ years and quite the joker. HAPPY JEW YEAR from WJEW in Lakevood. That's an old running joke, Lakewood, NJ having a large Orthodox Jewish community and he used to sing "W-J-E-W in Lakevood, the voice of the Jewsey shore" to the tune of an old WNEW ID jingle. Yeah, explanation falls flat, you just had to hear him singing on the radio back in our CB daze. Now he's N2HGY and his singing on the air days are over. (;->)

So Happy Jew Year to all Jews and Jew wannabes from KB2VXA, the radioactive station and the voice of the Grumpy Old Bastid on the foreshore powered by natural gas.

Sounds like it to me. Those fly by night places used to call me all the time asking me to be responsible for a family members "loan", I always said no. On the other hand, one called me and told me that I was listed as being a reference or some shit like that and that it made me responsible. I told him that I didn't sign anything and wasn't paying anything. I never heard anything back.

I can't see someone being held responsible for something they did not approve. Those little loan and cash advance places are bullies, give it back and they normally leave you alone.

Whoa! Wait, that sucks... But... I work for a collection company that collects on a lot of those kind of accounts. PM me with some details and I may be able to help you. I'm not a collection agent (I write software) but I have had to learn a lot about the business and the laws, because a major part of the software I write has to do with ensuring agent compliance with the law. I also can ask my bosses or our compliance officers any question on this and they will know the answer.

Anyway, happy new year. Hopefully this doesn't turn out to be as bad as you thought.

Thanks for all the replies guys and gals.

The situation will be taken to task when I get home next week. Legal Council will be contacted tomorrow by the wife. We have several friends in the legal world so we wont have a problem fighting it if it comes down to that. The "offending party" has already "apologized" (not that it means much) and has "promised" to make amends (once again, not that that means much). He knows it best be taken care of else he find himself homeless. We most likely wont pursue any fraud claims against him as that would actually be counterproductive. If he fails to meet his obligation then legal action may be merited both against him and the loan companies involved. I think its just best I make sure (with a ball bat) he follows through on his financial promise.

This isn't the first go around I've had with him, but it is the most serious. Hopefully this time he learns his lesson. This is his final chance.

Anyway, I've really said more then I should have. Shouldn't have posted it in the first place. Just was an unexpected sock in the gut at a time I'm always a bit more depressed then I should be....lol.

KKM... Thanks for the offer. If I find I do have an issue, I might take you up on that. Just atm, I'm gonna handle it internally with the family. Much appreciated!

Happy Hangover... err I mean Happy New Year Everyone!

Not really, outlining the situation helps understanding.

"Shouldn't have posted it in the first place."
Wrong, I for one am glad you did even if I have no helpful advice to give but one below. That's what we're here for and as you see others have and as always we're glad to help in matters Alpha Hotel to (QR)Z.

Happy New Year to one and all, may you live long and prosper. Mike, I understand, BUT there are limits to everything and frankly you should have drawn the line in the sand a while ago. With friends (or relatives) like that you don't need enemies, if I were you I'd kick him to the curb and walk away.

As 2014 comes to The Island (what time zone are we in, anyway?)

may all inhabitants be blessed with tons of prosperity.

But the "best of dx" wish is reserved for me alone. ;)

Almost half way through the first day of 2014 and so far it does not seem significantly different from 2013. I think someone's been feeding us a line of BS about this "new year" thing.

Decided to burn up a buch of tealights i have in stock, Armagheddon is not on the doorstep anyway :)
Weather is too warm, no winter in sight, just a prolongation of the Autumn, just reflecting back i cannot see any difference here as well.

The left one in the dress. Back in that life I was a woman. Too bad those guys don't know the one thing that didn't change.

I still liked women.
