So, we just got home from a weekend with the kids and grandkids down in northern VA. Which meant that Grandma (aka my wife, the boss) got to bring down half a car trunk full of presents for the little ones that Santa had "accidentally" left at our house.

Of course, we had some stuff for the kids as well. And they had some stuff for us.

Now, about 6 weeks ago, my stepson asked me about what the Boss wanted, and Little Miss Field Day, and, of course, me. So, I told him some golf shirts, something I could wear to work. He says, "don't you need anything in the radio room?"

Heh heh. What a loaded question, but I really don't expect him to cough up a Ten-Tec Eagle, or even a Rebel. So I point out to him that a lot of my wish-list items are $$$. He asks, "what about some books, or magazine subscription, or something?"

So I throw out a few options. Including the Centennial ARRL Handbook. Didn't figure anything would come of it.

Yeah, you probably saw where this was going... a wrapped box from Amazon, and sure enough, a Centennial Handbook.

That is the FIRST time I have ever dropped a hint about something for the shack -- and gotten it!

What do you know... he's finally listening.

Next year, maybe I will ask for that Eagle...

I gotta tell you. She has beautiful eyes, really. I don't know why, but the eyes are THE first thing about women that I notice, well, most always. Of course the rest ain't too shabby either.

You're liable to end up with a bird in a box.

That ain't no nun, son. One of the coolest things about being Pope is that you get to know all the saints personally and jolly old Saint Nick is jolly for a reason: he knows who all the bad girls are.

Problem?? Are you kidding? That makes him even more popular with the ladies. Besides, when he does come, he covers the entire world.

No shit. Ron's my age.How old do you think I am, anyway?

...and for the record, no, I no longer celebrate my natal anniversary. I made a terrible mistake when I was young and foolish (as opposed to merely foolish) and got married on the same date. To the first one. I don't like to be reminded of that disaster.

Funny, the exact same thing happened to me.

You should marry them on their birthdays like I did.

And make sure their folks are wealthy, all the less likely

they'll stick you with alimony and/or child support. :)

Gee, thanks.

...child support wasn't a problem. The first one didn't want any kids. Of course, I didn't find that out until afterwards... beforehand, it was "I want to get my career started first." (Of course, now that I have two -- one as part of the package, one of my own -- I'm sure she'd sing a different tune. She did that a lot)

I don't know. I have a few ideas though. Bring her over & leave her here for awhile, I'll let you know what I figure out.

"What concerns me is, what the hell do you do with the remainder?"
There is no remainder so you have her all to yourself. Well, part of her anyway.

"Bring her over & leave her here for awhile, I'll let you know what I figure out."
You'll have to start over.

My best ever Christmas Present came in around Christmas 1966. My folks got me a "BUILD A RADIO" Kit where U soldered parts in a variety of combinations to make several electronic projects including a AM Receiver. That got me started on Electronics, and 2 years later I got my Ham license. So that was indeed the most INFLUENTIAL Present ever!

Can you imagine waltzing in to the company Christmas party with her on your arm, looking like that?Actually, I can.

When I worked at Chester Engineers, the VP who ran the Municipal Engineering group, who was in his late 50's, had a GF in her very early 20's. She worked as a model... and an exotic dancer. Yeah, right... she was a stripper.

He brought her to at least 2 company Christmas parties that I was at. Both times, she wore a VERY tight red dress... Let's just say that it was so tight, she couldn't wear any undergarments without leaving visible lines... and she left no visible lines.

And yes, just about all of upper management (his age or older) drooled and stared. Most of their wives, those who still had them at least, were scandalized. (And no, I don't have pictures, I didn't bring a camera along, and this was long before smart phones). It didn't help that she had her professional name tattooed on her left boob, which the dress clearly revealed.

Bruce had a medical emergency (not a heart attack, but something pretty serious). He told us afterwards that when he was in the ICU, the GF asked him to marry her... so that he could leave her his estate.

He was a character in many ways. We had to change his email address, because somehow, he'd gotten on a mailing list from an adult site, and we were unable to find a way to get him off of it. During the process, I learned his password (I sure hope he's changed it sometime during the last 15 years): jenna*jameson

Interesting story about trophy wives and girlfriends, usually gold diggers. Once upon a time a Richie Rich friend had one of those, he hit on my girlfriend who made her look sick. Naturally she spurned his advances, she told me when we got home, we both had a good laugh. She hated him to begin with, his ego made mine look small. Coincidentally How To Marry A Millionaire is on TV.
