And the only time anyone in Honolulu ever said "there's a Nip in the air."

Not so ironically, this was also the anniversary of my first marriage.

So, you got torpedoed, too?;)
I took heavy damage from my first marriage, too. It pretty nearly sunk me.

You sea men are all alike.

On December 7, 1941, I sh*t in my "pants" (very likely, as I was only two and a half). ;)
But all seriousness aside, my earliest memories are of WWII going on.
My Aunt Bette getting "V-mail" from her husband in in the Air Force.
Mom using sugar rationing stamps, Dad hunched over the big Zenith table radio
listening to "good news tonight" or "bad news tonight" from Gabriel Heater.
My dad bought a three-and-a-half bedroom home in early 1945 for $5,000,
and planted a "Victory Garden"--which we continued enjoying well after the war.
