...at the same time, you have to ask "Why?"

It's a flyable 1/3 scale replica of a B-17 and by flyable, I mean the guy climbs into the thing and flies it.

You've got to admire the builder's level of skill as well as his perseverance but for the same amount of work and money—probably considerably less, actually—he could have built himself a real hot-rod of an aircraft that would have been a lot more fun to fly.

If you have to ask, you can't afford it... and don't get it.

More power to him. It's not for me, and I don't get it either... but if he's having fun, and not scaring the horses, whatever.

I guess why do some people restore old cars. Or why do they engage in any kind of hobby. Guess it's something he enjoys. And it is different.

As far as American made war birds go, the B-17 was always a favorite right under the P-51. This labor of love is awesome in every way. I would love to see this thing fly. As far as why? Who knows, but it's a hell of an endeavor. Thanks for finding and posting this.
