i assume we're all too lazy to actually attend the retail outlets so maybe there's something that happens online?

Amazon, online, free shipping. My favorite for these kinds of "black ops". Tigerdirect and even the "box" stores have online options. Crowds do not anything positive to the experience.

"I'm too broke!!"
The bartender can fix you, I'm thinking a few rusty nails will get you hammered. Oh, a screwdriver will get you tight.

I need a few computer odds and ends that can be ordered directly from the manufacturers. Other than that, eBay to the rescue...

i buy it for me. also: absolutely no interest in b&m retail experiences.only time I buy something is if I really need to. and that is honestly pretty rare and when it does happen its used stuff anyway.I do make it a rule to NEVER buy from any company that annoys me with advertising.

Oh boy, the economy has EVERYBODY down! I thought some of you more affluent guys might have a better outlook but it looks like I'm not the only grumpy old bastid (and not so affluent too) on the Island.

"I do make it a rule to NEVER buy from any company that annoys me with advertising."

You must not buy from anybody who advertizes on TV then. Neither do I for that matter, then again I ignore commercials so when I go shopping I just buy what I need, not what they think I should want.

Yeah, I discovered that Micro Center, and I've said goodbye to most other retail electronics outlets.

The wife says we're going to go out shopping tonight. We'll see.

'DSG is working the 'phun' all weekend. I've gotten almost everything the family wants/needs for the season so I'm going to sit this one out.

Wife had to work Thursday night, but made out got paid for holliday, plus time and half. As far as shopping goes, I give money to the daughter's to shop for XYL, they know what she wants / needs, I never know what to buy. My kids are e-z WVU or Penn State stuff for the girls, Akron U stuff for son. Wife takes care of that. Grandkids, games for game systems, anything that make noise and can be sent home..........

Interesting, Micro Center is an American computer department store founded in Columbus, Ohio in 1979 by two former Radio Shack employees and is a subsidiary of Micro Electronics, Inc., a privately held corporation headquartered in Hilliard, Ohio. In addition to selling the name brand products, Micro Center also sells products under a variety of its own brand names. That sounds like the good old Radio Shack framework, Realistic, Micronta, and others before it became Cell Phone Shack.

Microcenter around here is great. Since they opened up here I have never had to buy anything computer oriented online. Anything I need so far they got it and usually for less than it would cost me online.

On cyber-Monday, my wife wanted me to follow her into town to get her car inspected. Car wasn't going to be done until 12 PM, so she suggested going shopping at the local Mall. We walked around for two hours and bought nothing. Then we went back to my truck and sat for another hour while my wife cyber shopped from her smart phone in a shopping mall parking lot? It's a brave new world out there and I don't understand it.

The XYL likes to torment the kids at Christmas time, and now that they are both grown and gone, it's easier. She bought these puzzle boxes that you can put gift cards in. The kids have to solve the puzzle to get the gift card. I bet they both end up smashing the boxes. Our son collects stuff related to Elmo from Sesame Street, so he is getting a few more of those. One was a children's book I found titled "Potty Time for Elmo".

We ended up shopping at Kohl's, after the Black Friday crowds had dissipated some.

The son called yesterday - he finally finished all his Brown Thursday/Black Friday weekend shifts - Monday was his first evening off since the day before Thanksgiving.

We dont do the 'consumer death march'...Ever!

What Devie and i do is the 'Amazon wish list' march instead. She put about 10 things on it...i had 43. What can i say, i found a bunch of stuff on Amazon that was cool. I dont expect all that, but heres what was on hers...books and Tarot cards. Mine...books. I got all of hers, just waiting on boxes.

We avoid the zombie nightmare of store shopping, our money is better spent on bills since the club is shuttered for two weeks every december and i am out of work. Besides, we just dont like christmas shoppers all that much as they are terrible creatures from the loin of Satan himself. And on a darker note, i have been leery of being in malls and big box stores around this time of year since 9/11 for obvious reasons...nothing like that has happened so far, for that i am thankful, but i remain cautious. That and its the time of year that people snap and do bad things to other people because they are depressed or just plain nuts, that has happened, unfortunately. Regardless, i just dont want to deal with parking, thats a nightmare in and of itself. Black Friday? That entire day can go hang it in its ass! I think those idiots just love violence and greed, not a stitch of traditional Christmas cheer there....just darkness.

We enjoy the tree, our unique decorations that we handpicked, some good food, our one penny books, hot tea, playing classic christmas movies over and over and just hanging out together...cant think of a better way to spend the holiday. :)
