I just put a new digitizer in my friends Ipad 2 for the third time. I told him if he breaks it again, wait until November when the non-glass touch screen model comes out. The digitizers only cost around 25 bux any more and $5 for the plastic frame that you sometimes have to FU, and it takes about a half hour to make the change. Many places are charging around $150 and up to do it. A guy could make a fortune replacing broken screens if he could get the word out. Kinda reminds me of all the $$ made fixing CB radios when that craze was around.
