I dunno. Tires that tell you they're low?

I hate those GD pressure sensor systems. When the light comes on, quite often it's because of bad sensor rather than low tire pressure.

The more electronic gizmo's i a car, the more that goes wrong there and it will be costly too ;)

I second that. My wife's BMW convertible had so many sensors on it, I swear sometimes the car wouldn't move out of the garage because it "had a headache". We would have to get it towed in for repairs (of the sensors of course). We decided to get rid of it. Who still makes a bare bones convertible (Mechanical top, window cranks, no fancy stereo, etc, etc)?

I dunno. Tires that tell you they're low? They already have that. In fact, one of our Mazda's sensors just failed... literally blew out through the tire stem. Cost a total of $187 to fix, between a new sensor & a new tire (at least we got partial credit on the year old tire)

PITA

My supervisor (who races sports cars for fun on the weekends) was telling us yesterday that some of his friends who race Corvettes absolutely hate those things. If they're not installed (and they're expensive!)(well, duh) in the wheels when the racing tires are put on, the 'vette's computer automatically puts the car in "emergency flat tire go slow" mode. The solution? They take the damn things off the regular tires, kludge them so that they always say that the tire pressure is at 100%, and throw them in the trunk of the 'vette. 'Vette's computer never knows the difference.

Sans a big kludge hammer, an aftermarket black box for modders could be an idea.

The Hyundai Atoz has electric windows and cental locking i can repair myself.
It does have a computer so had it chipped, spare one through a mate is 100 bucks chipped after put in the car if mine decides to go all windows blue screen...

Just a few sensors, cheap and cheerfull for Hyundai to get if they go pop, and can rpair myself.
Just pulled the snowchains from the attic for the car, they expect a cold winter so my action in getting the snowchains in the car will make it a snowfree winter ( figures).

You could always buy something classic and restore it. Or buy it already restored. If you buy something restored to drive rather than show then you shouldn't have a problem coming in at under the cost of a low end BMW.

I've changed out a window regulator.

Yes, just like washing your car makes it rain, putting chains on your tires ahead of time wards off the frozen precipitation.

Kinda makes you lose some of your fillings as well.

Very nice. The car and the mountains aren't bad, either.
