Makes sense to me because he just sold some twigs from his backyard for $4000.

I guess the asylums have internet now.

I wish mine was worth that much. And I have a PL deck for it too!
But the 2M final is blown in mine and is unobtainable. There was a clown at the Chino Hills swapmeet who also asked $1000 for his. He took it home

Oh, boy. Where do you start?

This boy is what... a few fries shy of a happy meal? Sure, let's go with that one.

I got bored about 2 paragraphs into his monologue. Sure hope he makes his money selling twigs... it's going to take a real sucker to buy that rig at that r@t b@sturd's price.

...of course, sooner or later, one will come along...

Beyond the guy being a nut case, those were pretty nice rigs for their time. A friend of mine had one, and I always drooled over it. But then, Drake usually did make nice looking and great operating rigs.

Pat, if that uses an MRF-238, they are around. RF Parts has them for around 30 bucks last time I checked. Also, watch the QTH for sale section. I'm sure you can find a device that will get you up and running if you really want to fix that thing. There are any number of stud mount devices that would work in the Drake with little to no modification. If you cant locate one, let me know. I'm pretty sure I have some of those, but if not, I probably have something that would work for you.

It seems like some flea bay sellers add the words, "professional, vintage, RARE" to the listing of their common junk gives them the right to start with a ridiculous price. They know that a sucker with more cash than common sense will come along. I guess it is legal to take advantage of the simple minded.

That radio is worth $400 max.

Had several of them. A lot of the unobtanium CMOS ICs used in the synthesizer section are now getting to the age where they'll fail due to the tin whiskers bit.

As others have pointed out, the seller is in fact under the influence of recreational substances.

When he was called out in the question window about the price, he stood firmly by his "i sold sticks for $4000" strategy.

If that came from a sane person, it would be a direct insult to anyone perusing the auction. But i dont think he is all there.

In that same vein, let's look at CL. I'm sure it's a typo but let's have some fun with it while we can.

I have a Johnson Viking 2 vintage 1954 and, it works, and has been set for nice high fidelity AM audio. I also adjusted the VFO for stability, and it is amazingly stable for a hollow state vfo. I will sell it for one million US dollars. I think that's reasonable for an old classic boat anchor in full working order. Any takers ?

Oy vey.

"Only 2 available." Sure.

One has to wonder if there really are that many suckers out there... or if these people are genuinely delusional... or if they just like posting outrageous things just to mess with us.
