Looks like a fine deal. Easily could bring 3K or more at a hamfester. Only thing is, is the station broke down or is it up for a test?

Cincinnati, the new four-land. :lol:Well, Cincy is across the river from KY, and the ad states the equipment is in KY.

But a DOSY meter? That clearly devalues the station by a couple of hundred dollars...

For all intents and purposes, Northern Kentucky is South Cincinnati !

< JOKE> Once upon a time in the Kingdom of Heaven, God was missing for six days. Eventually, Michael, the archangel, found him resting on the seventh day. He inquired of God, "Where have you been?"

God sighed a deep sigh of satisfaction and proudly pointed downwards through the clouds, "Look Michael, look what I've made."

Archangel Michael looked puzzled and said, "What is it?"

It's a planet," replied God, "and I've put Life on it. I'm going to call it Earth and it's going to be a great place of balance."

"Balance?", inquired Michael, still confused.

God explained, pointing to different parts of earth, "For example, some nations will be a place of great opportunity and wealth while others are going to be poor." God continued, pointing to different countries. "This one will be extremely hot and arid while this one will be very cold and covered in ice."

The Archangel, impressed by God's work, then pointed to a large land mass and said, "What's that one?"

"Ah," said God. "That's OHIO, the most glorious place on earth. There are beautiful lakes, rivers, sunsets and rolling hills. The people from OHIO are going to be modest, intelligent and humorous and they are going to be found traveling the world. They will be extremely sociable, hard working and high achieving, and they will be known throughout the world as diplomats and carriers of peace."

Michael gasped in wonder and admiration but then proclaimed, "What about balance, God? You said there would be balance!"

God replied wisely, "Wait until you see who I'm putting around them in Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia and Pennsylvania." </JOKE>

Actually, we need Paul, W8JN to go check it out for us (if he hasn't already purchased it).

I'd be worried about what else the guy had at home if he needed a dosimeter in the shack...

The original 756 reminds me of the first QSTs I read when I was licensed. Had a 746 for a while in college, but sold it before I had any display issues - didn't the 756s have a horrific failure rate of the LCDs?

My impression that people from Cincinnati act like it's not part of Ohio. Like they live in their own state or something.

Don't get that impression from Daytonites.

That was my impression as well, after moving to Ohio to attend the University of Dayton, relocating to Cleveland for a few years after graduation, and then moving to Cincinnati. Granted, this was more than a few years ago, but things haven't changed too much in the Cincinnati view of Ohio. I'd watch the evening news and begin to wonder if Cincinnati wasn't in Kentucky instead of Ohio.

Columbus is mentioned only if Ohio State is having a winning football season, or if some money is needed from the state for a local highway or development project. Not too many people realize that Lake Erie has sandy beaches, and that their skin won't flake off if they swim in the water, although they may have heard of Put-in-Bay (http://www.city-data.com/city/Put-in-Bay-Ohio.html). Cleveland is considered a stinking toxic dump populated with unemployed steel and auto workers with funny Slavic last names, and is criticized most vehemently by people who have never been there. Hocking Hills is where you go if you want to hike in the woods, but isn't Kentucky nicer?

I love Cincinnati, and hope to move back someday. It took me only about eight or nine years to feel like I belonged there (resistance is futile http://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif), in contrast to moving to Dayton or Cleveland, where I immediately felt at home. Cincinnati is not the most provincial place on Earth (that honor goes to New York City), but its vision rarely extends beyond the I-275 loop.

In contrast, the people I knew/know in Cleveland and Columbus and elsewhere throughout the state think Cincinnati is an unusual and interesting city and a fun place to visit.

Yep, a DOSY meter devalues a station almost as much as a G5RV.

Word on the street says that the Cincinnati Zoo has added a large annex. They built a fence around Kentucky. ba dump dump tish.

Factoid: CVG is actually in Kentucky. So many folks were confused that the Cincinnati airport was in Covington, Kentucky that they renamed it as the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.
