Think, what goes on a car and sounds like "ass boiler" especially if you say the two words together as one word quickly ?

Now ya got it. The reason "ASS BOILER" came about goes back to when I was in high school. We had a lot of hot rodders in my mechanical drawing class. One day this one guy says he's putting an "air spoiler" on his car. Now I'm there I know next to shit about hot rodding so I'm thinking to myself, "what the hell is an ass boiler" ? Maybe something ypou put under the seat that shoots fire at your ass to make you hit the accellerator and amuse your friends at the same time ? Yet I was afraid to ask as I figured I be laughed at and head, "get this... this idiot doesn;t even know what an ass boiler is !!". Eventually I connected it. I knew what a spoiler was so it eventually came together after a week and I realized he was saying "air spoiler". But to this day when ever I see or someone mentions them I can't help but think "ass boiler".

Ive never heard it referred to like that. I wonder if real hot rodders call it that. The purpose is to help truly powerful race cars hold the road better, but the average 4-banger with an "ass boiler" on it, which this city has too many of, looks downright silly. Kind of like Lee Press-on nails for cars.

IMO it depends on the car, its size, and the size/style of the "ass boiler". The little trunk lips that you see on a lot of cars look just fine. In fact some of the cheaper models that don't have them look funny.

Come to think of it I have never owned a car without at least a deck lid spoiler. Starting with my first, a road runner. Followed by a Satellite and then my Z28. Hell even my cobalt had a spoiler. Quite similar to what you would have seen on my road runner. The Z28 just has a little trunk lip but they sure look funny without it such as my fathers berlinetta, yuck.

I tried one, once; but it didn't look quite right on my Hudson Hornet.

Although the stretched-tire thing has made its way to our fair shores. Usually with a ridiculous amount of camber for that permanent chicken-strip look once seen on motorcycles, lulz.

Is that pink confection REALLY held on with Erector Set brackets and 8-32 screws? Perhaps there's some duct tape where I can't see it properly...
