Yeah, so I've decided to keep ham radio as a hobby after spending last evening with my friend Tim, a musician from whom I bought a gorgeous Wechter blues acoustic-electric guitar yesterday. Ironically, Tim was a ham for many years and currently works for the same CB shop I used to when I was 18 years old. He was reminiscing about music and then about all the contacts he made when he was still licensed, and encouraged me not to let a few assholes ruin what used to be a good hobby for me.

So... I just sold some stuff and I have a few bucks. I want *something* that will do 20 meter SSB & PSK, at least. I've been thinking of buying a Hendricks kit but if anyone here has a rig available for a reasonable price, hit me now, because I've made my decisions about how I am going to spend my free time and ham radio is something I still want to continue.

Welcome back Kelli. Glad you decided not to shitcan the hobby. I don't have anything at the moment, but I thought I'd say hey.

Hey Eddie, good to see you, and thank you hon. I can't help it, I think. Like music, radio is apparently part of my genetics.

If you have $2 for a lightbulb, you can have an 80M rig: http://makezine.com/2008/12/26/das-derelicht-ham-radio-transmitter/

You'd better have a half way decent antenna hooked to that thing. 1.5 watts into a G5RV at 20 feet isn't going to be heard very well, if at all. Unless you only want to work someone across town.

That's pretty cool. I haven't seen caps like those in the output for years. And, they are newer than the even older body-end-dot style I used to make shit when I was little.

Kelli, what are you looking for? Something like an 101ZD , 520-530, or an 820-830? A hybird or solid state? let me know I may have something

I have an IC-7000 along with a separation kit and SignaLink USB interface I'm looking to part with. It's in great condition, used very lightly. Now that I've got the K0KU club station and I'm living on campus, I just won't ever use it.

You looking for phone or CW or both? I've got a little Ten-Tec CW transeiver that I could part with for a reasonable price...
Other stuff, too, a Siltronix rig, some Drake Ts and Rs and a couple TRs, all with power supplies.
Ten-Tec and Siltronix could be pretty cheap, the Drakes a little more...
I think I have a Kenwood (or is it a Yeasu?) that could be had at a good price.
When I get home tonight I can tell you what else is available...
