If you noticed, they weren't running long stories, just the shorts.

EDO passed his general an hour before the broadcast, and I commented that I had passed mine last night as well. We both got Congrats.

Maybe I should ask a boxer about the length of the stories.

Just ask, and don't try rummaging through his drawers.

Now that you are a General i'm going to have to make you an AM'er. First, we have to find you a boatanchor from the early 1950's.

After all, 2/3rd's of being a ham is AM.

The business name Radio Shack is ironical.

Hmmm, decoding the twit from experience, LOL! No pickles were harmed? WB6NOA Gordon West's blazing pickle demonstration shows how to electrocute a pickle. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdJDqi05qVU A long time ago in a club meeting far away Marconi worked all neighbors, a similar comment came to the fore during the pickle thing when Gordo told our volunteer to send SOS on the straight key he used as a switch. OH NO! NO CAN DO! The pickle is an untuned spark transmitter and the SOS may be picked up on a nearby radio or TV, sending a false distress signal is against the law. That's the only time I've ever seen him at a loss for words.

For what it's worth, in the video both electrodes are in the same end of the pickle, you can barely see a little steam. In the demo I saw one was in each end, the pickle nearly exploded. (;->)

Tesla first, Marconi, not.

Tesla first, Marconi, not.

Actually the "radio" was invented by many people. Tesla was a brilliant engineer but not a scientist. Neither was Marconi. Tesla has developed a cult following, perhaps rightfully so. The only issue I have with some Tesla fanatics is when they make claims about some of Tesla's ideas and inventions which Tesla himself did not even claim. For example I was having a discussion (argument) with someone on the existence of "free energy machines" i.e. physical machines that can actually perform work output that exceeds the energy that is put into the system. I tried to explain why this is most likely not possible to create a free energy loop in terms of conservative vs non-conservative vector fields, flux, and closed loops within different types of fields but unfortunately he lacked the sophistication to understand this but did supply me of examples of free energy machines that Tesla designed and built and that do work. However upon further research and reading Tesla's own documentation, design and commentary I immediately realized they were not free energy devices and that Tesla never claimed they were. In fact at many points Tesla made clear that while efficient there was no free energy being derived. At that point I concluded that some Tesla fans need to spend more time reading the actual words of Tesla himself. With regards to radio I would say that both Marconi and Tesla made important contributions as did Maj. Armstrong who lived in my home town.
