I found this article extraordinary. It’s a little long, and serious, so put on your thinking cap before you read it. I found parts of it to be very interesting as related to today’s social world. People not interested in social psychology may find it boring, so don’t read it.

Interesting article, David. Seems to jive closely with personal experience.

Yours , or mine ? lol. Its just interesting, I’m not relating it to anyone, I am just fascinated by the studies and how things evolve. I thought the HIV and death rate thing was the most interesting.

Disclaimer: I haven't read the article.

ON the loneliness front, if I didn't have a daily dose of a few friends online, through the radio or the telephone, I'd go stark raving crazy.

Sarah's schedule is such that I never see her a lot and since I'm not working, I spend a lot of time alone. It fucking blows.

I do have my cats.

Psycho Bhutan, Targha and the little F.A.

F.A. is around all day long and frequently interrupts typing.

The article talks about why its good to come out of the closet, maybe that will help someone. Not your cats. lol.. Unless you have cats in the closet.

From the article (emphasis mine):

Care for a pet or start believing in a supernatural being and your score on the UCLA Loneliness Scale will go down.

This goes a long way in explaining religion and other forms of magical thinking.

My own. And yes, the HIV death rate thing was fascinating.
