Here's a reminder that you should always be careful what you wish for. Lightning struck a family in their car seconds after one of the kids wished it would, according to KSL.com (http://www.ksl.com/?sid=26343102&nid=148&title=family-struck-by-lightning-while-driving-films-incident&fm=home_page&s_cid=featured-1).

Dayum kid! STFU next time or wish for an XBOX! LOL!

That is understood when you're talking about Morlocks, the Eloi on the other hand have more sense since they live above ground.

That was funny as hell. "Mommy I wish out car would get hit by lightning" .... WHAM !!! BANG !! Lucky they were sitting inside a Faraday cage...

All kidding aside lightning strikes are much more likely to happen than most people imagine. In a thunderstorm ..very likely :) . Lightning is the only weather phenomenon that caused damage here more than once.

Act of God - Auto Insurance Term (http://www.onlineautoinsurance.com/coverage/what-act-god/)

Bay Ridge, Brooklyn was close to the Ocean and the upper and lower Bays. There was damage at least once per thunderstorm whenever we had one. It would range from lightning striking and blowing up a house to setting a roof on fire (FDNY explanation - hit a gas line). Oddly, my building was one of the tallest and rarely got hit. The tree next to it usually got hit once a month in the summer. Killed a few birds nesting in it.

When I was living in East NY Brooklyn we had the worst thunderstorms and more lightning strikes than I have ever seen anywhere else. The storms were always extremely severe producing intense high wind gusts and tornadoes. The house across from me was hit every thunderstorm and our place was struck many times. Our TV set was destroyed several times due to direct lightning hits and power to the entire area was blacked out more than once. My Dad's old AM radio never worked right. There was an abandoned house a little ways down from me and rumor had it that it was abandoned after a lightning strike. In fact we used to have an old home movie of me my parents and my uncle and aunt in the backyard. Later on the film becomes very dark as clouds from an approaching storm came in. I remember the storm to this day. The sky turned a very dark bluish purple color, lightning and deafening thunder everywhere, hailstones piling up on the ground and roofs and clotheslines torn off houses in massive winds probably well over 120 mph. Several buildings burned in the neighborhood.
