As an ex-35mm geek, I understand where he's coming from. I had nothing but a 50mm prime on a Contax SLR, and it forced me to get better at composition because I didn't have a zoom to rely on. I would have done the same if I could have afforded a FF digital, but a 35mm prime is close enough :-D

The problem is that in ham radio, the gear often does make a big difference. Good towers and beams aren't always cheap...
