View Full Version : Doomed
That's it.
The fat lady has sung. The party is over. The season is finished. No playoffs. No 82+ win season. Throw in the towel.
The kiss of death has been given to the 2013 Pittsburgh Pirates.
They're the featured story of this week's issue of Sports Illustrated. With Jason Grilli on the cover.
It's just a question of when. When the SI Cover Jinx will hit. But it's a given.
We're doomed. We're done for.

I hope you are wrong Ron......... I would love to see the Pirates have a winning season after 20 years of doing nothing.

Padres WERE within ONE GAME of first place at one point.
But then they went on an 11 game LOSING Streak, and they are back at the bottom, absolutely HOPELESS.
Maybe the PADS will play the Pirates so U can get some WINS!
Here's the proof:

BTW, found out something interesting...
This is the National SI cover this week. But some of you won't see it; there's a second Regional cover (presumably for the West Coast?) featuring Buster Posey & the SF Giants.
So... there's hope! The Cover Jinx may only strike One team... not both! Nothing against the Giants, but they've had a couple of recent World Series apperances...

Sharknado bullpen? Flying shark pitchers? If it's a Sy-Fi Channel original it's guaranteed to stink on ice.

Although it was played to death, the SciFi channel ad for shark week was kind of amusing, especially the anchorman at the end. I guess there was a bit of an uproar over the whole thing. Who knew?

I've heard more than a few "WTF"'s about the Sharknado Bullpen reference.
As usual, SI got it half-assed.
The bullpen is called the Shark Tank. Why? Because 8th inning setup man Mark Melancon is nicknamed "Shark" Melancon by his family; his brother-in-law was interviewed on TV, during a game, the family was wearing home-made T-Shirts to that effect, one thing led to another, and the ball started rolling.
Even to the point where a local pet store loaned the team a salt water tank, complete with (of course) live sharks, for the locker room for the season. Really.
But "sharknado"? That's all SI. Nobody in town calls them that.
(Hmmm. Wonder if the players punked the SI reporters when they were interviewed? Would serve the reporters right...)

Think how sad it is to be a Red's fan. Making post season several years in a row these past few years. They never make it past the first series. I remember, the horrible no hitter by the Phillies. Hang in there.

Dunno.
Los Gigantes have been sucking wind recently. They were 4-9 before the break.

It seems like every month has a shark week, Sy Fi, I'm so damn sick of sharks! Now I'm finally putting pieces together, Snuffy the seal got chomped in another Sy Fi stinker and it was about the Jersey Shore which happens to be the theme of the movie set in the Heights of Sleazeside, Snookie the Benny Brigade and all shooting sharks with M-16s at a marina that doesn't exist in Jersey. Yeah, the movie Snookie is just as lame as the TV one.
Oh, that Brian clip from Family Guy is very much like the Marty McFly as Chuck Berry in Back To The Future. Hey wait a minute, what's wrong with this picture? Which picture? The one on the right obviously, Chuck Berry played a Gibson ES-335, the one on the left.

And, it was a Rick Roll, which I still find to be kinda funny.
