Harvested my first cucuzza today. For those of you who are unaware, a cucuzza is an edible gourd popular in southern Italy and Sicily that is known for it's incredible rate of growth. Mine often grew 8-10" in a single day!

As for the title of the thread, "guguzz" is a common slang term used for "cucuzza"; Italians like to change their Cs to Gs for some reason and drop the last syllable. "Guguzz" can also mean "a useless person," as in "Don't bother asking that guy for help, he's a guguzz."

U gotta GREAT Garden there, Carl! Wish I could grow stuff up in Crest, but anything I plant the GOPHERS eat. But they won't eat WEEDS for some reason. So we have plenty of WEEDS (not Weed, WEEDS!)here, but no Purposely planted plants.

The reason I don't have a gopher problem here is that the ground is too hard for them to burrow through. I have to do my gardening in raised beds.
