Hello,

Just checking to see what people are using for their call look ups. And if you recommend one over the other.

Thanks, have you tried the ham call. Maybe I should be more specific. I mean call look ups for logbooks while making a qso. A program that works with the log programs.

As a premium subscriber to qrz.com I use it in HRD's logbook to look-up and log contacts.

QRZ has the best one, for a price.

I have that one currently, but its about to expire. I am morally opposed to renewing it, so I was hoping you wouldn’t say that. There has to be a good competitor out there.. I got a promo email from ham call, thinking of trying it out. Anyone have experience with ham call, is it as good as Q**. I’m just tired of funding that rhetoric over there.

Countries that have government databases of licenses are free, usually.

But, for DX and such, QRZ is the best. Just the way it is.

But, for DX and such, QRZ is the best. Just the way it is.Agreed. It's the standard and oldest database for ham radio -- It'd take a long time to legitimately gain and maintain all those DX calls he has. There are dishonest ways of doing it, but you're likely to get sued under his AUP/licensing.

It seams paying another subscription fee to them is just as dishonest. F***. Do you guys all pay that ?

I still pretty much use my 1962 ARRL Callbook. Problem is, I rarely find my contacts in there anymore.

www.hamqth.com is my choice.

I've also written a simple free iOS app to use the API.

It's maintained and owned by Petr OK2CQR. Really nice dude who is the author of CQRLog which is a Linux logging software. I have worked with him on testing a few things and i even wrote an app for iOS that uses the API.

http://apps.n2rj.com/hamquery/

The API is light years ahead of other callsign databases and Petr keeps adding features. The only thing is the oldest and most popular database has more callsigns.

I have version 1.2 out soon which adds some features including a better picture viewer and last 10 contacts as well as full iPad support.
