Considering the tone of so many posts around here of late... something positive.

On behalf of my family, I'd like to publicly thank Hank N8GAV for going above & beyond the strict call of duty.

Hank had contacted me a couple of days ago, to see if we were going to today's Pirates game. He and his family were going, and if we were, he thought it would be nice to actually meet up.

Unfortunately, we were unable to obtain tickets. Sold out on Monday -- not even SRO tickets available. Of course, part of the reason is, as per their recent policy, the Pirates give free tickets to veterans and active duty military when they have a home game on the 4th.

Well, Hank found out that his Legion post had some extra tickets available, and got them for us!

So we had the pleasure of meeting Hank & his family just before the game, and (conveniently enough) shared the row of seats with them.

Of course, nothing goes without a hitch. Jessie had a nose bleed... two actually, and the second one got a little serious; we ended up in the paramedic's office for about 45 minutes until it got under control. (Nothing to worry about, found out she'd neglected to take her iron pills, and that combined with the hot, dry weather... and we'll consult with an ENT specialist next week, just to be sure).

We ended up leaving the seats suddenly, and I never had a chance to really thank Hank and his family... and the boss is very upset that she couldn't either, as she really appreciated this, and didn't want to appear to be rude.

So, thanks Hank! :clap::clap::clap:

We'll have to do this again some time (and this time, we'll buy the hot dogs)

Ron, it was my pleasure. I truly enjoyed this afternoon, a good way to spend the 4th, watch a baseball game and talk a little radio. Tell the boss we understand, Jessie comes first hope, all is well. Bonnie said we will do it again and maybe we can get together some time when I have to go to the VA do a pizza or something.

Har Har NOSEBLEED!!! Hank is a good guy, and this is a sign of it. Hank, I would take Ron up on that hot dog offer. The only other time I have seen him offer food to another Islander was a package of ramen noodles to a 6 lander. Grab those dogs, and run!!! I hope the kid comes out ok. Someday you can all joke about sitting in the nosebleed section, and she took it too serious.

To be honest Fred we had damn good seats ! Field Box sets in section 132 between left field and 3rd base. Not high enough for nose bleed. Hey next time my son gets tickets for an Areos game would you and Nicki be interested ? Maybe we can con Tim into going?

We often ride our bicycles right past their stadium - Canal Park area. An Islander night out might be...interesting. :lol:

Have not been to a CO Rockies game this year. Need to, the YL and I have been talking about it.

They are having problems this season, but... it is one of the coolest stadiums in baseball.

Sounds like a plan. But I think we can find a better pizza shop than the VA. :hyper:

You come to the Breezeshooter's Hamfest, I guarantee you will have more than a hot dog... and I'll cook it.

OK, on second thought, I'll make sure it's cooked.

We'll find a pizza shop, the food at the VA sucks! Only good thing there is a Starbucks. The nurses on 5East will tell you when I was there, when I could not be found in my room all they had to do was go down to the Starbucks and there I was.
