Don't know if anyone on the forum is working the 13 Original Colonies Special Event Stations this week, but if you are, look for K2M/W3WH tonight after 0000 Z.

I'll be down at Bill's place for a few hours. Don't know yet if I'll be on Phone (K3 set up in his sunroom) or on CW (Omni VII down in his basement shack) or splitting time between the two.

Last night, most of the activity for the 14 calls (*) was on 40 meters, split about evenly between Phone & CW, with some activity on 20. (Even got my last one, K2K in NH, on 160 last night!!) Depending on propagation & antennas, I'm hoping to put in some time on 80 & 30. We'll see.

More info on the special event stations at http://www.13colonies.info/

Just one thing: Make sure that if/when you work K2M, it's me. Not that putz Radio Free Bob WC3O over at K2M/K3MJW!

(*) Yes, 14. K2A - K2M represent the 13 colonies. There's also a bonus station, WM3PEN from Philadelphia... found them last night on 7115 running QRS in the middle of the old Novice band. First time I've sent 7 WPM code in years, and boy, was that tough!

There are multiple stations running each 1x1, so you'll see calls like K2M/K3MJW just to indicate who's who.

Let us loser phone ops know when you are on phone and where."Loser phone ops?" Now that's no way to think of yourself. You should have a positive attitude!

I'm actually more comfortable handling a pile-up on phone, so we'll see.

Oh, I should have mentioned, I'm also tentatively planning to be down there Friday morning (the company is closed on Friday, they're giving us all a long holiday weekend) to hit the high bands... that means you Cor!

Purely tongue in cheek, of course!

Anyway, I'm assuming 40 is probably a good band after 0000.

I have been working the 13 Colonies thing and have 4 in the log now. Very FIERCE pileups that take every milliwatt of the Kilowatt to crack! This is a great event, and wish I had been on last night for K2M! (I was at a Radio Club board meeting). Will look again tonight as I still have 9 to go!

Enjoy the PILEUPS!!!

Enjoy the PILEUPS!!!There are actually supposed to be four stations running K2M. Three are in WPA -- WC3O is leading the Skyview RS group out at the K3MJW clubhouse, W3WH is leading the WASH group from his house. I haven't heard the EPA guys on yet (WX2A, I think), nor have I heard a peep out of the 2 Rivers ARC gang (W3OC).

But that's why they have multiple stations running the calls...

Oh, I should mention, if you hear a YL at K2M, especially last night or today/tonight, it's probably Carol KB3GMN. She's a great op, and a nice lady too, but don't piss her off... if she says "the 6MHZ only" then she MEANS it...

There's the time difference here to look at, but i can try in the weekend to scan the bands for you guy's and give me a reason to fire up th Heathkit SB-1000 after months of neglect.... the 3 - 500 ZG might want to be run red again to getter ;)

Aww. Not even for me? I am depressed. :(

I did this bit 2 years ago, Ron. Been there; done that.

I haven't tried to make a single contact with any of the stations this year. It's not personal, I'm just not interested. I wasn't interested last year, either.

grumble grumble fed him a perfectly good straight line from Blazing Saddles & he lets it go to waste grumble grumble

No problem. No harm, no foul. To be honest, I didn't bother with it last year, but I did get into it a little this year.

9 of them in the Log, but K2M is NOT one of them yet! Just worked K2H on PSK63, so they are all over the bands! Wild Pileups on 20M for the stations, worse than DX Pileups! But all heard have been worked so far. Maybe I can find the last 4 tomorrow sometime

It was fun! But boy, is my voice hoarse!

Pat, I'm sorry, whenever I called for 6's, I called directly for you.

K2M / W3WH will be on tomorrow and Friday. I will be back down around noon (1600 Z) on Friday, crusing the high bands. We'll try.

Up to 12 out of 13. K2D is the last holdout.
I did hear them on 20CW, but they went QRT fast.
Also saw the WM3PEN on 20PSK, but they went QRT fast too.

2 days left (Extended 2 days). I worked K2M but it was Bob in W PA. Saw U listed on 15SSB but when I went there no sign of U.

He had me working 40 SSB on 7233.4 all afternoon. The reason you might not have heard him is that we had a crimp-on connector fail (amazing what happens when a deer kicks the plastic container containing the SGC tuner), and he was down for awhile.

If you worked Bob, then you worked K2M/K3MJW, over one county. No worries, I'm glad you got him!

I'm seeing spots on 40 for K2D, 7228. I don't think the band is long enough for you right now, though.

Pat, if you're keeping an eye on the reflector...

K2D is on 14290, and I'm hearing a bunch of 6's & 7's working some of the other stations (K2A, K2C, K2G to name three) on 40 SSB. All in the last 10 minutes.

OK!!! Got K2D on 20SSB for #13, and then went hunting the WM3PEN.. A spot showed them on 40 SSB, but didn't find them. Lotsa Venezuela stations though and that is a new DXCC county for me on 40! Then found Carl BSO and Janet WU9G up on the high end of the band. Great QSOs and time to hit the Snoreshelf. Gotta find that WM3PEN somewhere this weekend!

I would, but I was out in the summer reigns, and have a sore throat, and bit of a colt. Perhaps when I'm better, I can bale out of here, and trot to a phone. In the mean time, canter anger be put on hold.

Nailed the WM3PEN justa few hours before the QRT time. PHEW!!!! He had a great signal on 20SSB yesterday afternoon and I was in the log on the first CALL!!!

SO that makes a CLEAN SWEEP plus the BONUS Station!

Guess I need to send off the certificate now! Sure worked for this one!

We need more great operating events like this. I am sure the "DX" stateside Ops had as much fun as us who worked them! Great fun DXing when the Sunspots SUCK and no hope of working overseas.
