I would really miss mine, too. I try not to think about the day it comes, but it's hard to do with the condition he's in. Back in the day he was something else.
I've got to hold his hand when we go out now, he's mostly blind and pretty feeble, and is starting to get dementia. I remember him holding mine when I was small. He was a giant and he knew everything, now he seems so small and has to ask where he is sometimes, but I still see the giant. Sometimes I wish strangers that give him the "pitiful old man" look could have known him forty years ago.

Looks like he'll be in town for two nights in about a week. First show is sold out and a few seats left on the second -- about $100 a seat in the nosebleed section. I've all but given up on concerts because of the prices (and especially Ticketmaster's "convenience fees").

Wow and it's a button type not even a piano key type those are way hard to learn. You might think the piano keys are hard to memorize but at least the pattern is linear compared to the layout of a button type
Not as impressive as the button accordion piece but pretty nice
Mozart on the harmonica with piano accompaniment.

Any old Eagles fans out there listen to the new Long Road Out Of Eden album?
Geez... The boys shoulda taken a page from Joe Walsh's sense of humor and named it We Forgot How. The album is horrible. They can still play, but they've forgotten how to write songs. The whole thing comes off as a bunch of pissed off rich middle-age white guys who think the world has gone to hell. This would be okay if it were done well, but it wasn't. Have you ever bought an album for one track just to find that all the other tracks sound like the lyrics were randomly mated to the tune? Well, here's a 2-CD set of that crap.
If you want to buy some music from old rockers doing new stuff, give a listen to Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen or Mark Knopfler. These are worth your time. The Eagles should apolize to the world for all the jewel case plastic they wasted on this one.
(And if you disagree, YOU'RE WRONG!) (so there)

That is impressive too. I can't see how they get that sound out of a squeezebox under normal circumstances, but these tracks are something else. As a keyboard and axe player (not particularly good, but adequate at them when I try), they and the horn section get my respect.

Been listening to a new album by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss (yeah, you read that right). Album's called Raising Sand and it's quite good. Old rocker and youngbabegospelchick -- it works! There's some scholarly debate on whether that piece was actually written by Bach, I think, but it's awesome no matter who wrote it.

Oh my that looks like an implement of torture no I will stick with strings after 40 years of exposure they are intuitive by exposure now. I still try to play the violin but it always aggravates my hiatal hernia condition so I end up having to stay away from it. Simple enough (wiki to the rescue)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visions_of ... ald_Beyond (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visions_of_the_Emerald_Beyond)
No I didn't know that one at all Emerald Beyond wasn't my favorite version of Mahavishnu as a band. I much preferred the Goodman, Hammer, Cobham, Laird, and McLaughlin version.
Actually I had gained interest in Jerry Goodman as a violinist when he was part of 'The Flock'
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Flock_(band)
The Flock (not live just a graphic and an album cut)

Note* the cut contains no Jerry Goodman Violin but he did at that time also play Lead Guitar for them too. Is it Jerry on guitar... not sure.

Have you looked around at talkbass.com they have a good forum and a nice sub section on Bass Violin and EUB's I looked at a bunch of resources related to that. I couldn't cite them all from memory but I found most via talkbass anyway.
People seem to like the NS stuff including the Violins both 4 & 5 string the quality is very good. I don't own one but it is a general consensus about NS from the people at a forum I help to run http://www.fiddleforum.com
I got off the violin for a while, elbow problems, an have been at two hand tapping for a while now. After so many years I need a challenge like that to keep me interested in the guitar. It isn't like it is a new found thing to me I have know about and listened to Stanley Jordan since 1980, I guess.
Not using a bass guitar how about a short scale like the Mustang or Bronco type 30.5" scale length might help. I have a Chinese clone of the Mustang pretty easy to play.
Last I heard Erik is dead for a few years now, heart attack I think...

no, I am 39, but I come from a family of musicians, and learned long ago to appreciate music (not the crap they play on the radio today).
As for my family's musical background Enoch Light who pioneered stereo recording, the late Ricky Nelson, and my father who played steel guitar.

Wow, I had never heard that one, I like it.
For years I played mostly drums/percussion, I could play bass and some rythem guitar, short fat fingers and no chord stretch limited my guitar playing. I was a natrual drummer though, started playing semi professionally in 1980 w/o ever taking lessons, I taught myself how to play. I've always been a fan of Jazz, Blues, rockabilly, and swing music.

some but they come off a little too academic, I like the music and admire the playing but... something doesn't click for me.
Steve Vai does that to me too, love everything he did with D Roth and the movie "Crossroads" But his solo stuff doesn't elicit much from me. Some performers need good composers and songwriters to provide them with an appropriate musical vehicle. Steve Vai is some awesome guitar player but I just don't get excited by his own musical material.
Maybe I wore out my interest in the more Academic Material a while back. Some very crude musical performances entice more then the overly skilled material does . I love some of the rough/primitive old blues material, go figure right?
The cut you posted was pretty nice but... Amazing I like some extremely academic material too such as King Crimson, ELP, Yes, and Gentle Giant what are they doing different then Dream Theater?

Here's one that if you only ever heard the studio cut you might have thought it too academic. On the studio cut the only part that keeps it from being overly academic is the Alto player Eric Marienthal. He just plays such really human, gutsy styled solos, very expressive. Might not be an all time great of the Alto Sax but in this period really soulful playing was his bag.

I might be a lowly guitar player but I love listening to other instruments, sometimes better then I like listening to guitar players. McCoy Tyner is likely one of my favorite Pianists just for his uniqueness. Some find him staid and not innovative, sure???, I love his talent for executing disparate rhythms in two hands. So subtle and simple when he does it, then you go try and do it yourself. You then realize he has this wild ability to do two almost unrelated things at the same time. He doesn't overuse it and you only get to hear it in trios, duos and solos for the most part. Best Example of that is the album McCoy Tyner, "Super Trios" not to be found on youtube.
