I am currently listening to a loop of tool. I have never done drugs and do not know what their effects feel like but I can only imagine that the feeling I get from listening to tool has to be similar to a heroin high. Angry, irritated, violent feelings flow through my mind and blood but listening mellows me out to the extent of being numb.

Before anyone asks, yes, I am fine. I have always been an emotional person and that reflects from those around me. I am just in a momentary funk that will go away by the nights end. As I have mentioned before, Pilar´s sister is living with us and I have never met a more self-absorbed person in my life and at times it just irritates me to see someone push the blame for their shortcomings on everyone but themselves. This particularly bothers me when it impacts my wife in a negative manner when she is only trying to be helpful.

Anyway, the point is that the music mellows me and numbs me. Music has always done this for me. So, I suppose, in a way that music is my drug.

I used to regret missing songs but now I would think it a blessing. How often do you get to hear a new song by a group that hasn't been around in years? I am much like this with music from the 80s and 90s when I wasn't as into Rock as I am now. My late wife's home care attendant came from Poland. During the cold war the USSR censored much of the rock coming from England including the Beatles. You should've seen her face when I played Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club. She swore it wasn't the Beatles until I showed her the album. Voice of America didn't help. During the 80s when I was there, they decided to ban all rock and roll especially The Beatles.

There were so many songs written and recorded in the 60s that some of them didn't get released here until the early 70s. Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress - Hollies and The Moody Blues album Days of Future Passed come to mind. Both were done in the 60s and didn't get released until the early 70s. One of the guys who was in the Hollies got his royalty check in the mail and couldn't figure out why. The Hollies had been broken up for years at that point.

Someone who was high for a performance was Ann Wilson in Heart. She had a huge fallout with Mushroom records over her activities. They released the album "Magazine" with no fanfare for a few days and pulled them off the shelf. I happened to be in the record store and saw the album and bought the thing before it was pulled.
