We went to a show this weekend where my son (and numerous other college kids) played at Roosevelt University. It was pretty much all classical guitar. On the second day of the performance (Saturday) the Katona Twins played a show. So this is one of the songs they did there.
[youtube:3cyyrq2f]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxUcJdIvoR4[/youtube:3cyyrq2f]
It was most enjoyable. They are truly amazing.

A song I discovered from the Where The Wild Things Are trailer. Good stuff.
As a violin and viola player, the string instrumentation is pretty spiffy thing to see.

Yeesh! That was painful. Worse yet, I remember watching Paul Revere and the Raiders on "Where the Action Is." The lead singer, who couldn't hold still during the close-ups, was Mark Lindsey. Paul is the keyboardist. The song wasn't bad for it's time, but that was a long time ago...
What am I listening to? J-Jazz(??)

Nothing wrong with Beck, Hammer and Simon doing an RTF song. They need Stanley Clarke up there though, but whatever. Its still great.
I got an opportunity to perform live with Simon Phillips and Steve Lukather on the big stage at Boulder Station. I was subbing in with the headliner that night and Toto was on before us...wow!! Amazing musicians in that band, one and all!! Luke and Simon came up and did a couple of songs...and all my musician friends were there to see it. But not ONE of those bastards thought to take a picture of it!!

Yeh, Tim was still a Hippie when I moved here. Real laid back kinda guy, would always say hi, but most people either didn't recognize him or thought he was too strange. I once asked about Miss Vickie, he said they'd split up (this was before it was public) and he was getting around a lot. A REALLY Nice guy and never took himself too seriously. He moved a few years later and my wacky neighborhood got a bit more normal. He lived in the next neighborhood, but used to take the train into the city. Amazingly many people didn't recognize him. Jim Backus lived here (never met him). So did Vanessa Del Rio and Larry "BUD" Melman. Vanessa is nice still looks great. Melman thought he was Olivier and has since passed away.

Ah yes, back when everyone had a beard, guys played glittery drum kits and all the guitarists and bass players had brightly colored cords that coiled like phone cords and for some reason, they rarely made them more than 6' long so they stretched across the stage like a clothes line.
And who can forget the padded amps! That would come in handy if its in your livingroom and you are stumbling around in the dark and hit it with your toe...but they suck for putting your drink on top of while you play. I think they designed those for when the stripper has finally had enough of her broke guitarist boyfriend and she kicks him out, so he loads it in his van and uses it as a bed...at least until later that night when she lets him back in because shes codependant.
I would venture to say that amp company really understood musicians.

There's a dvd of a Prince concert done in Paris, I think early 90's. He had this chick on the drums that screamed. One song they switched guitar/drums and both still effin screamed.
Not sure if it's the same chick or not, but it was a tight duo.

Hard to believe that the same person sings both songs.
I listened to slipknot for years and years before stone sour came out and that blew me away. I was like "Holy shit Corey Taylor can sing". A screamer and a singer, who would have ever guessed.

George Harrison helped these guys get started. I tried getting their stuff on Itunes but you get the current band, not the original, and it ain't the same. I felt like I got ripped off. The original lead singer is dead

For the AC/DC fans, here's an early video with Bon Scott in a band he was in called the Valentines. It was a bubble gum pop band, and had two lead singers including Scott. In this video the other guy is singing lead on the song "Buttercup" while Scott hangs out in his poofy sleeved shirt and page boy hair cut. Captions identifying the singers appear about midway through the video. Not a great song, but should be interesting to anyone who likes AC/DC.

Well, I searched "Midnight Special" on Youtube to see what I could find on the old TV show. Looked for Don Kirshner's Rock Concert TV show too, but I guess he probably doesn't want a new generation seeing his show...here's Peter Frampton doing "Do You Feel Like We Do"

So, did any of you middle aged guys ever have to sit really close to the family TV with the sound turned way down so you wouldn't wake up the folks and watch "Midnight Special" or "Don Kirshner's Rock Concert"? I think Midnight Special was introduced in '72 as a way to get young people to vote. As I recall, John Denver was the first host and said if you don't vote don't bitch, and I had NEVER heard that word on TV! And from a guy like Denver, no less!
Remember, he went up to DC when Tipper Gore was crusading and testified AGAINST her position. I always liked John Denver and that made me think about the situation a little more.
Sorry for not posting another video, but I couldn't resist the nostalgia. For you younger guys, some day you'll hear your generation's songs on an oldies radio station too...
