Environmental activist Erin Brockovich, portrayed by Julia Roberts in a 2000 movie about her fight over the pollution of a California town, has been arrested on suspicion of boating while intoxicated at Lake Mead near Las Vegas, authorities said Sunday.

I guess we, from Kansas, all drink a little too much.

I agree. If I had this to start out with, I would think I could keep it up a little better than this. I mean I was already born ugly, but even I look better than that.

Would peyote do that?

Would peyote do that?

Could be, but the perception would be on the part of the individual observing her.

For the most part, camera's are not affected by hallucinogens.

It looks like the fact is that she has been rode hard and hung up wet too many times.

Peyote, mescaline, or even reefer cannot help with that. Only alcohol makes such things look better... :yuck:

Looks to me like she has a bad case of eczema wich can be the result of a wide range of medical conditions from relatively non-serious conditions such as common allergic dermatitis to serious underlying health issues requiring abrupt medical treatment.

I remember getting scombroid posioning (a form of food poisoning) after eating some shellfish one night. About an hour after ingesting the shellfish I noticed a hot tingling burning sensation on the back of my nec. I asked someone nearby to look at my neck and they said it was beet red. Within the next minute my whole body felt light it was on fire and my skin from head to toe was red as a cooked lobster. I took some anti-histamines and within an hour or two is began to subside. A couple hours later I was fine. A few days later I asked a friend who is an expert on food poisoning and he diagnosed it as scombroid poisoning, which it exactly what it was. The thing is that I was not the only person eating the shellfish yet I was the only one who got the food poisoning. He said I was probably just by coincidence happened to be the one who are the particular shellfish that had the toxin. Apparently the toxin forms when fish is not kept refrigerated to a low enough temperature. The scombroid toxin causes the body's immune system to produce an intense rush of histamine hence the itching, burning, and extreme flushing. In some cases it can be fatal as often the blood pressure will drop extremely low.

Well, that's not exactly the most flattering picture ever taken of her. And if it's the Official Police Lineup photo, that's not surprising.

That said... c'mon, do we have to rag on her? For one thing, I suspect there's a little more to the story... like what happened to the "male companion" who was allegedly out on the lake with her? (One may suspect that said companion bailed out on her, no pun intended, to avoid arrest himself, leaving her to fend for herself)

She made a mistake. It wasn't, fortunately, a fatal one. Can't we just leave it at that?

Those of us from Kansas are used to it. It comes with the territory. Kick us when we're down.

Those of us from Kansas are used to it. It comes with the territory. Kick us when we're down. Now, the obvious wise-crack retort to that would go on the lines of No need, if you're from Kansas, you've been kicked enough or something like that.

Of course, being from New Jersey, I'm fully sympathetic to such notions, and thus would never, ever, stoop so low as to make a crack like that. So I won't.

It seems like it is everywhere. Last weekend a new acquaintance and my XYL and I were discussing things and the topic of us being from Kansas came up and instantly there was a Toto remark. Like, name me a cult movie that came out before 1940 that deals with New Jersey. I figured I would post this to beat everyone to the punch on us people of the south wind.

Hah. Kansas, New Jersey, you guys are pikers when it comes to being kicked around. Californians have you beat ten times over in that regard. Hell, just having CA plates on your car can cause you grief in a lot of places.

Kicked around for what reason? Is it over a movie that you didn't have anything to do with, or having too much sun in the earlier years due to having to work so many hours on the farm? How many California video's are like this?

For if you are, then we can heap you with high praise thusly: Well Done, Medium Rare!
