I never expected it..... They legalized medical pot! Will the Gov sign it into law?

Hey, don't knock it. unless you've tried it. Just be sure to take the Earl Grey out of the package first.

I was talking to a cop the other day who was telling me that he thinks the drug laws are absurd. He feels marijuana should be outright legalized, just as alcohol is legal. He also feels that other drugs should at least be decriminalized. He doesn;t like the idea of having to haul someone in for merely possessing or using a small quantity of anything.

Lot of people in Law enforcement have spoken out against the drug war. Up till recently out lawmakers ignored them. Perhaps now that tide is slowly starting to change.

Nonetheless, in NYC you can still spend the weekend in the junkie tank at Rikers Island for mere possession of a small quantity of weed. Bloomby-Baby is still heavily targeting marijuana users. Now that that is changing in other places perhaps things will change in nanny-NY..

Yup, if they legalized possession of small amounts, the police would be able to focus more man power on busting the super sized soft drink rings.

I don't know about that but I really wish coca tea were legal. I probably would much prefer it over coffee/caffeine. Used as a tea it acts as a mild stimulant, is safe, and no more addicting than caffeine. It is also metabolized differently and doesn't produce the long term jitters and anxiety often associated with caffeine consumption,.

I read that in the old days Europeans used to make an opium tea for the relief of pain, coughs, and symptoms of colds and other ailments, and as a sleep aid and relaxant.

Used in these mild forms these alkaloids are much safer, milder, and much less addictive or non addicting, etc. than the stigma attached to them via the intense effects of concentrated street drugs.

“Right now, those arrested for possessing small amounts of marijuana are often held in custody overnight. We’re changing that. Effective next month, anyone presenting an ID and clearing a warrant check will be released directly from the precinct with a desk appearance ticket to return to court. It’s consistent with the law, it’s the right thing to do and it will allow us to target police resources where they’re needed most." --Mayor Michael Bloomberg

From a story dated 2/14/13 (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/14/bloomberg-marijuana-arrest-nyc-ticket-not-jail_n_2687954.html)

As you no doubt know, possession of small amounts of marijuana was decriminalized in New York State in 1977 for 25 grams or less, as long as it's not in public view. But the NYPD, especially under Bloomberg and Giuliani administrations, has widely disregarded this law, and the department's stop-and-frisk policy has been instrumental in driving up the numbers of pot possession arrests (http://gothamist.com/2012/02/01/nypds_low-level_marijuana_possessio.php). Here's how it works: an officer will tell someone during a stop-and-frisk to empty his or her pockets, and once that person obeys, presto—the marijuana is now in public view!

Funny how that works. Gothamist story dated 3/19/13 (http://gothamist.com/2013/03/19/nyc_pot_decriminalization_could_hap.php)

Pot arrests are still extremely high (no pun intended) in NYC. My advice to any weed smoker would be, don't ever possess or use any amount of weed anywhere in NYC. If you do use or buy it in NYC then good luck, you'll need it because eventually you WILL be arrested.

I remember a rather unique take out/delivery outfit that served "KFC style chicken" we had around here years ago.......it was called "Chicken on the Run" and yes, it was just as good!

Oddly enough, Gerry, although Chicken Delight is long gone from the U.S., it still exists in Canada.

Seems to me, at least out this way, it was "Don't cook tonight, call chicken delight", because they used to deliver.
