Agreed. The Olds 4-4-2 (1970) is a beauty. Always had the hots for that car. And all the others too! :lol:
That Corvette ZR-1 is the only supercar the US has ever made. 204 MPH top speed right in the Ferrari/Mercedes/Lamborghini class.
Eff the cars, give me the driver of the 2001 car. I don't know if I'd remember what to do with her, but I'm sure it would come back to me eventually.

I've seen a few of those race. No, not the actual pace cars, but other vehicles off the same assembly lines.

Indy-Cars use ethanol for fuel. (http://e85.whipnet.net/news/indycar.fuel.html) This means it has a smaller carbon footprint. If they use a newer system of producing this fuel, there is no carbon footprint. It is in the commercialization stages and will not affect the price of food when it is implemented.

Ah, after a day at the track, you take your own muscle car and fill it up for three bucks; then, with your favorite squeeze next to you, head to a good flick at the drive in, with a cold six pack of of Colt 45 malt liquor hidden under the seat. Damn, life was simple back then.

The race is fun to go to, but you can't see anything because of the safety fencing. Only when they come right in front of you.

Mine was Grey on Grey, ragtop. Great for drive ins and music festivals. Slick Gypsy Cab, and carried a lot of sound equipment. Kept it for about a year and a half. Did a mild hot rodding, for another 40-50 HP. Burnouts were hilarious. Got it stupid cheap. Sold it for about $3K profit. Somebody had been begging for it since I bought it.
To be honest, the Buick Toronado drove better. My favorite bigass Chevy was a 76 Monte Carlo, it actually handled like a freaking car. As did the Electra, RWD. The 69 MB 280SE was purchased after the Monte Carlo. That was an upgrade.

They do... now. As far as most of the (now) Vintage racers go... well, I just love the smell of racing exhaust in the morning (as long as it's the 3rd weekend in July and it's in Schenley Park)

Be a nice power plant for a Spitefire, P40, or even a P51. I wonder how it would stand up to a Merlin?

Kind of like a Briggs & Stratton stands up to a Ferrrari engine. A friend of mine worked for Jack Cochran, who built a number of the Merlin engines that won at Reno. I've seen those things taken apart and as cool as that little V-12 is, there's no comparison.
If you're starting out with two V-8's, why not make a V-16 for it? The cost of making that engine would be more (I think) than mounting it in a mid car position.

It should fit in the front seat, no problem.
