Contesters day was actually in May shortly before the turn of the century.

In consideration of those SSB contests that use CQ zones, this year's International Contester Day celebrates certain portions of South America. Particularly included are Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, and certain island entities off shore of each (Falklands, S. Georgia, S. Sandwich, S. Orkney, etc).

Shit, here we go again. Another contest. There go all the bands. Nowhere to go for a clear frequency. All the false sig reports and fudging on the logs. Excessive power, using WARC bands for the contest, the pileups, the lying, the cheating, the discourteously, and on and on and on. Jezus, when will it all end. Oh, the humanity. Contesters are the riff raff of the earth. I mean, let's probe into the mentality of the contester. He is fat, he smells bad, he never heard of soap, he uses a massive antenna that ruins the property values of his neighborhood thus he is selfish. He won't let his wife see the doctor or to get medical treatment she needs because he spends every last cent on more and more radios, amps, and antennas. He prefers exchanging some phony signal reports rather than having a conversation. He deliberately interferes with non-contesters. I admit have no interested in contesting whatsoever, that's why I think about it and rant about it constantly.

If you take inventory of the available photos distributed throughout hamdom, whackers typically outweigh contesters by a factor of two, or more.
