I just might have to try this out.

Wouldn't use it on the iPhone, but the iPad should do well.

But...it costs almost a whole dollar!

Seriously, I just downloaded it for the iPad. I'll play with it and let everyone know how it works out.

Wow, the extras alone are worth the price. Among a metric shit-ton of other stuff, it includes the whole of Part 97. It's got a cool Field Day logging feature as well.

His rig control device looks interesting, too.

Well, it's definitely hammy.... as opposed to those annoying non-hammy posts. ;)

Coincidentally, I read up a bit about that thing just recently after I saw someone selling one on the QRZ swap meet. Pretty nifty little unit, may have to try one out some time now that I have an iPad to play with. The XYL was given one by a client but she's not really interested in using it—which is okay with me, if you catch my drift.

Did you download a copy of HamLog?

Couple that with the fact we own two iPads..

Not yet. It's on the To Do list.

I'm also trying to justify using the app in the first place. I don't do any portable operating, and I've got a full-blown PC in the shack already.

I suppose I could try another FD operation from the side yard like I did in 2005. That would give me a reason to actually use the logging function.

My note book and pen have always served me well for logging and my fingers for controlling. Then again, I mostly ragchew via SSB. Not really a need for rig control or computer logging. I guess I prefer the simplicity of my methods. :P That being said, I was reluctant to get a tablet and I use it almost exclusively now.

We will talk again in 5 years and see what my opinion is. I am rather slow to adopt change.

Finally got around to installing, too. Impressive amount of extras.

I DL'ed a few of the PARP podcast thingies just to see what that was all about. Kind of bland stuff for me, but probably useful to others. I may try some of the other podcasts as time goes on.
