Someone just PM'd me about the advertisement they saw at the bottom of the page... and I thought it'd be better to respond to all.

There is now a single advertisement located at the bottom of the page if you visit the site as an 'unregistered' user. This ad is for domain names, it's intended to generate revenue for HamIsland and also help a company that has been very friendly to HamIsland.

-If you are a registered user, I have no intentions of deploying any more ads -- sign in and you won't see it.

-It's at the bottom of the page, very innocuous.

-If you use an AdBlock-type solution, you'll never see it. :)

-Our unregistered traffic outnumbers our registered traffic 2:1 (easily)...

If you have any questions, let me know. :)

Ain't botherin' me. Besides, I might need Web hosting one of these days. How well do they do with e-commerce for the clueless?

You'll have to get in line. There are many people that want to take care of Carl. Joey "Boom Boom" Bailey, Jack The Rack, "Two Faced" Tony Gagglioni, and the list goes on. Capish?

If my opinion matters, an ad logged in or not is a small price to pay to keep the site up and running.

i think you should put a second ad ... as an amazon affiliate. advertise ham books. you get a cut of the sale.

and keep the link handy for when islanders are buying through amazon.

but that's just me. i'm happier for the island to have a cut of the action than an amazon stockholder.

maybe we can just get a cut of all the diagnostic testing, xrays, ct scans, mris that we all get. that'd be a boatload of cash!

(i say this having had a fifteen minute visit with a dermatologist today which probably cost the insurer $1k)
