Pluto's Gate (Plutonium in Latin) has been found. Really.

And on the same line, the Door to Hell has been burning for the last 40 years:

There was one in Niagara Falls but the river extinguished the fire and the rock fall at he bottom sealed the entrance. There is historical evidence, many have gone over the falls, the few survivors were the lucky ones. There are three right here in New Jersey, one in Newark, one in Camden and the back door is in Asbury Park. The Mayans had their Hell, they called it Shivalva as described in the Popul Vuh or "Council Book". Recently discovered is a partially submerged (the water level has risen since ancient times) cave littered with bones and formations that accurately follow descriptions in the Popul Vuh. Soviet geologists created their own in Derweze, Turkmenistan and decades earlier coal miners created one in Pennsylvania complete with fire and brimstone plus toxic fumes just for fun, a real Hell on Earth. It has a name, Centralia.

I wonder how many songs are out there about Gary, Indiana?

I'm hoping there's only one.

I'm hoping there's only one.

Which is one too many.

I never realized the inherent humor of song until I made my first delivery in Gary. Oy, vey, what a shithole— it makes even Bakersfield look good, and that's no mean feat.

They had just left. I was busy donating money at the Old Downtown while they were working. But I did get a couple of silver coins with the "Old Man's" likeness for the kids.

Bottom pic? Firefox displays them side by side so do you mean the watery one or the rail station platform area? That's Communipaw Terminal on the long defunct Central Railroad of New Jersey (CNJ), the terminal is still active with other uses, not sure what though. FYI scenes from Funny Girl were filmed there. I'm not sure if that's a baggage or mail cart but it's not going anywhere since theft would be rather difficult, not easy as it looks since the place is not abandoned. Porn Stars wouldn't pay much for that junk, they're pretty common but if Rick and the crew from American Restoration did it up that would be another story. I used to go through there fairly frequently, I'd take the train from Roselle, ferry across the Hudson to the long gone Pier 82 and walk a few blocks to the legendary Radio Row. After drooling on the mil surplus on the sidewalks and the used Collins gear on consignment in Barry Radio (moved, gone commercial and changed to Barry Electronics) I'd walk a few blocks south to the Battery. There I'd take South Ferry aka the Staten Island Ferry to St. George Terminal and ride the SIRT back and forth to Tottenville with one or another engineer friends. Then I'd grab something to eat somewhere and call it a day. Oh, that original end of platform sign shows the name of the CNJ's most famous train that ran to Atlantic City, the track ran after Lakewood through Toms River and Beachwood. At a stop up the line a crew member would call the Beachwood Diner and place an order, trains would stop behind the diner briefly, he'd run inside and pick up food for the crew. That reminds me of a 10 minute layover and a mad dash to McDonald's in Port Jervis before the return trip to Hoboken but this is getting long. Jersey City is Hell, Communipaw is the gate but the fire has gone out. I love the smell of a Camelback steam locomotive in the morning, smells like... railroad.

I saw that too where cousin Rick took a coin out.

Actually no relation, even though the Old Man has the facial features of my family.

Never really got the fascination of this show. Pawn shops and their slimy owners prey on misfortune, poverty, ignorance, and illegal activity. Parasites...

Cousin Rick? This is the kind of cheap asshole that leaves you stuck with the check for lunch--and he be the one that invited you. The "Old Man"? As is said here, spackle your butt shut if such as he takes an interest in you...

You have to scrape the sleeze off when you leave the place. The wife wanted to go, so guess who won.
