Yes, yes you're right.
My biggest issue there was blowing candy wrappers, not this snow stuff.

Jet engine.
What is the jet engine for? To blow the driveway or fly south for the winter?

That's true. I knew a guy that did a stretch there back in the early 90's. He was there the same time as Gordon Jump from WKRP.

Good times.Flakes starting falling last night. [Yes folks, I meant SNOW FLAKES, not the other kind of flakes!! ]. A mere dusting when I went to bed.
Woke up this morning at 5, courtesy of the automated school district "two hour delay" timer. Saw about 3 inches on the ground. Most of it a heavy & wet snow/slush mixture, since the snow that had actually touched the driveway melted, and the snow above it absorbed the water.
Spent an hour shoveling the driveway, front walk, and front deck. As another dusting came down on us.
It's been overcast all day, from what I can see out the front windows, but nothing more has stuck. Snow was supposed to stop around 1800 Z (2 PM local).

Sarah's working swings at the nookier plant, so we went into BloNo to go to the store earlier. We saw 5 cars planted in the snow with red tags on the antennas, I'm sure to indicate they were wrecks. The drifting here was pretty bad. Bloomington is only about 15 miles away, but it took forever to get there because of the icy roads.
It's like they didn't plow today because the schools were closed. I listen to the bus dispatcher every morning and there was no activity, so I assumed they shut the schools for the day. The roads are usually pretty clear even after a big storm, but they weren't today.
BTW, the bus frequency is a real crackup. "Bus 22, little Suzy Creamcheese won't be riding today" or "Bus 17, Trent, full out a full report on the tobacco chewers on your bus. We want to make sure the parents know".
Illinois rocks.

The white shit has been melting all day.
Hopefully, it will be gone by tomorrow.
I'm going to CA on Thursday to see my parents and get my Rambler from Tulelake. There will NOT be any snow there.
Hopefully, the drive back to cornland won't involve any snow.
I'm a little nervous about Wyoming. When I picked my daughter up from Michigan in 2008, it was pretty hairy through there. I certainly don't need snow with a loaded 17 foot truck and a car trailer.

Try it pulling a 53' trailer some time. I once got trapped at Point of Rocks, WY for two days when the WDOT closed I-80 because of snow and ice.

Did you have enough fuel and were able to idle your engine for heat?

Yeah, we'd just filled up (roughly 300 gallons) in Evanston so we could have idled for several more days if necessary. We had plenty of food and water and there was a restaurant within walking distance so it wasn't a dire situation. Plus, there were about fifty other trucks stuck there as well so it was kind of like a party atmosphere. The only real problem is that none of us were making any money—truckers are paid by the mile so when the wheels aren't rolling, they aren't earning.

I understand the $$ part of it. It sucks to be stuck in the snow. I had to hoof it for a couple of miles once to find shelter. FSCKING SNOW. I piss on it every chance I get.

In this Easter weather, the dog is able to walk on the crispy coating on top of the snow whereas I have to wade through snowdrifts on top of the hill. It's hard going but he loves it.
The antenna sagged a bit when it collected a 4 inch knife edge of ice but it's recovered by itself now.

Do you live on top of your own mountain? Great place to set up an antenna! I see what looks like some great rabbit hunting terrain!

Halfway up, it's always too windy at the top, nothing edible would grow in the garden. The rabbit hunting is great fun, likewise grey squirrels, they only survive a few seconds. If "dog" Bryn disappears into the bushes he always comes out with something.

You will love it there. Great people, food, and lots of stuff to see. When we went, my son and I stopped at a pub. They were all watching NASCAR, we watched Cricket. We ask them to explain the sport, they said they would only if we explained the rules of racing. We all LOLed and got hannered. Would go back tonight if I could.

Really nice Christmas card view. The only one with a view like that around here is Thomas Jefferson and his home on Monticello. You almost don't need to reach out with a radio, just a couple of flags and knowledge of semaphore

Snowing again this night.
3rd successive cold winter here, started december 3 with snow and cold, and as far i can see we will have too cold 2 first weeks of April as well.
High pressure area above Norway seems to be glued in place, Jetstream much lower as normal pushing the systems in a 180 degree different direction, mostly easterly winds transporting very cold air from the Northpole over cold and snowy Russia, Polen And Germany drectly to us here and the UK.
Temps daytime just above freezing, strong easterly wind making the windchill dip quite low.
Early this week windchill temp daytime was -15 C ...force 8 gales.
Last year we had already weeks of + 15 C and end March +20 C...
Though then we had a very cold February temps dipping to -23 C for a tempered seaclimate... yep really...
Only saw - 17 this year though.
Most climate experts blame the dwindling nortpole ice wreaking havoc on the conditions at the pole driving the jetstream in bigger loops, more south and slowing down, driving easterly systems with lots of cold and snow into our direction.
High pressure area's get stuck up north and stay for weeks almost at the same spot.
Russia, Polen Germany and Belgium, France and we had record snowfall and cold.
The new global weirding of weather.
Summers wet and less sunny and warm as before, UK drowned almost last year.
The Ice at the northpole is already melting, most one year ice, and large area's already show big cracks, so i expect another year with record low ice cover and more of this weather for us and possible the USA too.
Interesting times we have now...
Stay dry and warm there...
I heard from PA stations you've had it much colder there.......closer to the Russian steppes?
