The March K9YA Telegraph ham eZine features a terrific article about the 1957-58 International Geophysical Year and ham radio's role. A Telegraph subscription is free but you must subscribe before download, before March 10th, try http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/k9ya_telegraph.

PS:The article inspired me to descend the crevasse of IGY memories and think about Antarctica as one of the imagination's primo uncontrolled substances. See dashtoons.com (http://www.dashtoons.com).

Thinking E.A. Poe's Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym, Jules Verne's The Ice Sphinx (an "answer" book sequel to Poe's novel) and H.P. Lovecraft's classic At The Mountains of Madness. Yep, there's Predator Vs Alien and goodness knows how many other examples of the South Pole as the ultimate haunted house, all of which in varying degrees are a continuing game of creative Hot Potato, with writers jammin' with each others' riffs.
