It's officially Outlook now.

Outlook.com (http://mashable.com/category/microsoft-outlook/) officially launched Tuesday, marking the demise of its predecessor, Hotmail (http://mashable.com/category/hotmail/).
Nearly seven months after unveiling a preview of the email service last July (http://mashable.com/2012/07/31/outlook-hotmail-review/), Microsoft announced the end of its beta run in a blog post (http://blogs.office.com/b/microsoft-outlook/archive/2013/02/18/outlook-com-leaves-preview-as-fastest-growing-email-service.aspx).
Microsoft, which acquired Hotmail in 1997 (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/news/press/1997/dec97/hotmlpr.aspx), said it will switch users to the new service "soon," but won't force them to change their emails to an "outlook.com" address. It added that all users should expect to see the change take place by this summer.
"Everything from their @hotmail.com email address, password, messages, folders, contacts, rules, vaation replies, etc. will stay the same, with no disruption in service."
The software giant also revealed that over 60 million people are actively using Outlook.com.

Outlook used to be a mail program but is now the name of MSN's eMail service. (http://mashable.com/2013/02/19/outlook-com/)

Yeah, Outlook (Client app) is slowly being replaced on the corporate side of things with Outlook Web Access. For consumers, it's already been replaced by Outlook.com, and Windows Mail.

They can change the name(s) all they want.

When will they make it work right? THAT is the question!

I don't think the outlook e-mail client is going away. I still use it and they even have it for Mac instead of Entourage.

OWA is nice for remote people. I'd like for bloated Outlook to go away but I doubt that's going to happen now.

I had opened an Outlook.com email account. You can use your 4 character ham call on it where Gmail won't let you. It has a calendar and a cloud drive. It works fairly well, but when I go to run a search on topics, I don't see a button to hit to take me back to the search list as I do on Gmail, without hitting the browser back button.

Agreed. I liked it when it was live.com. You could use a 4 letter call and it was short and easy to type. N2NH@live.com. Who knows? It might still be possible to get those.

You might have to search around for the right 4 character outlook call. N9XR@outlook.com has been taken. LOL.

Snotmail addresses still work for now but for how long is the question. For me I couldn't care less, my domain is on a private server recently upgraded from Windows (yeah, I know) to Linux driven Apache. (;->)

We are Microsoft, you will be assimilated.

Resistance is futile. We will rip off your technological advancements and patent them as our own.

You will live to service us.

Resistance is futile.

Just one of many (insert adjective here) things you can do with a sound editor.

Are users playing the role of beta testing lab rats again? Considering it's SOP when a new OS is in the final stages of development one begins to wonder.
