Just another wild animal running the streets of Fun City.

Three months after a runaway pony and zebra caused a stir on Staten Island (http://www.silive.com/news/index.ssf/2012/11/zebra_and_pony_on_the_lamb_in.html), another wayward barnyard animal is making headlines in NYC -- this time in Brooklyn. A stray goat was spotted in the parking lot of Brooklyn's Interfaith Medical Center in Crown Heights Thursday morning, according to a report by WCBS New York (http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2013/02/07/runaway-goat-cornered-in-brooklyn-parking-lot/), citing Long Island affiliate WLNY.
Six police officers chased the animal and caught up with it about a mile away to another parking lot. But they were in luck. The attendant was a West African native who was -- believe it or not -- a goat herder in his native country, according to the report.

When I moved there, there were reports of people seeing an elephant for a period of nearly two years. Oddly enough they caught him when two cops saw him duck behind a building...

A goat roams in Brooklyn?

First it was A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. Now this. Factor in the Dodgers leaving, the carpetbagging Nets moving in...

I tell you, they're going to Hades in a Handbasket out there!

They're also getting the Brooklyn Islanders NHL hockey team later this year.

Just the icing on the cake, so to speak.

I can only take one or two bites but it's still enjoyable.

Ah Brooklyn, the ball club was called Dodgers for a reason. A move to LA changed nothing, they're still dodging something.

I think I dodged having to explain what a Flatbush is. That and why there is no Strand Ave, but there is a Nostrand Ave. in Brooklyn.

Flatbush is easy, Jolly Green used it as a stool. Of course there is Nostrand Avenue, it needs no explanation. Moving up to the Bronx for a moment there must be the strangest name for a road in all of the city, Mosholu Parkway. Ah so, is it Chinese? No, Algonquin for smooth stones. Whether or not originally paved with cobblestones I don't know. Another quizzical one is the Van Wyck Distressway that even native New Yorkers don't know how to pronounce so they say it both ways. Is it "van wick" or "van wike"? Don't ask me, I'm from New Jersey where we have names so weird they're unpronounceable unless you stuff your mouth full like... Mahwah. Then there are strange places, East New York is in Brooklyn while West New York is in New Jersey. Before I get TOO carried away I'll say this, life in and around NYC is surely interesting and asking directions more so.

May the Force Tube Ave be with you (Brooklyn, NY)
Ten Eyck St. - Is in "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" and it actually exists.
Great Jones St. in Manhattan
Gun Hill Rd in The Bronx

I'm sure there's more...
