From 2:10 to 2:18 in the video, during the time-lapse star rotation, you can tell which star is Polaris, the North Pole star. As the Earth rotates on its axis, the stars appear to form circular arcs in the sky. Since the Earth's axis points very closely to Polaris, this star will be the only one that doesn't cause much of a curved light trail in a time lapse photo. It will be in the center of the arcs.

More interesting sky stuff to occur February 15th 2013. Ever heard of 2012 DA14? You'll be able to see it, maybe, as it will pass withing 17,400 miles of the Earth and punch through our ring of space junk, possibly knocking out a satellite in its path.
Stay tuned for this one.

That was enjoyable. I noticed a big arc that didn't look like a plane or meteor trail. They describe it as a "UFO" from 1:30 to 1:35...

Posted on it a few days ago... they're claiming it will not affect us in any way whatsoever. Still, it is coming between us and the Stationary Sats that we use for Weather, TV and Cellphones.

Aside from the fact cell phones have nothing to do with satellites what is a roid post? I've heard of roid rings for toilets, scratching posts for cats and dogs dragging their wormy butts on the floor so could this be something new for people with itchy roids?

No problemo. Hopefully someone will dig out the binoculars and get a look at it as it takes out a communications satellite...
