I remember someone on the island mentioning Keepass (or something close to that) for password generating and management. I think it was in the K1OIK thread but I didn't find it.

What I am wanting to do is ease the load on my mind when trying to come up with a half ass secure password. I know I'm gonna catch hell from some here for this, but we/I have 5 operating computers here, 3 WinXP, and 2 Win7, we use FireFox about 85-90% of the time. The other 10-15% is IE 8 on the XP's and IE 9 on the Win7 machines. I try to keep every thing up to date and as close to the same for operating ease. (old brains and different keystrokes don't mix!)

With all that said, I was wondering if some of the computer experts could shed some light on some password management tools.. Remember I'm an old dumb ass hillbilly so please try to keep it simple!

OK, it's your turn.............

I have been reading and trying to decide... I have about decided on KeePass 2.20.1, it looks to do what I want and the price is right, (yes, I'm cheap!)

Does anyone know of any good reason this is not a good plan?

BTW, thanks very much for the input guys.

Works with all operating systems, browsers and smart phones. At work, we looked at LastPass before settling on Roboform.

One problem we had was that if you logged out of a web site, and were brought back to the "home" or login screen, it would automatically log you back in! Very annoying, and for some of our users, potentially fatal.

Excel spreadsheet.

That keeps the URL, login, password, and any notes.

Password generation?

Start with a special character if the system will accept it. I like $ and %. Follow with three characters--the first a capital letter. Follow with two numbers, and end with 3 more letters. So, we might have $Cft67ygv. Believe it or not, that is a keyboard diagonal up and down, and has tremendous strength.
