I was just starting out as a truck driver and I was sitting in the restaurant at the TA Truck-stop in Mesquite, TX early one sunny, summer afternoon when a tall green eyed red head with huge breasts walked in. She was wearing very tight blue jeans and a red fishnet shirt with no bra. I damn near choked on my cheeseburger.

20 minutes later, I had her in my truck and we spent the next 4 years together. 34 years later and one of the products of that chance meeting in a truck-stop, has become a member of the Island.

Please give CJDoss1984 a warm welcome when you see him. He's not the smartest kid on the planet, but he's one of mine.

I was cultivating a highly sought-after herbal supplement up in the boondocks of southern Oregon. Later that year, I came down with Hep B and had to return to civilization for medical treatment.

If you folks are going to invite non-licensed/prospective hams to the Island, kindly give us a heads-up beforehand. That particular user almost ended up in the bit bucket...and we're not going to tolerate another incident with a non-ham as was witnessed in the "Global Warming" thread.

OK, That answers allot. The ham ticket should come as soon as I can find him a place to take the test. I missed the thread in question... I'll have to go read it.

And Thank you for helping out.

Ya' know.... I used to insist on Northern CA/OR weed when I partook in that sort of thing..... I may have gotten some of yours.......Then my sister scored some hash and I had a new favorite. Thai Stick was pretty bitchin' too.

Bummer. I was working graveyard at 7-11 in Fremont, CA after school was out. I quit when my Dad invited me to drive to El Salvador, without my mother, in our 1970 VW Bug. We ended up in Nicaragua and got out just before the Sandinistas took over. Also got stuck in the Peten of Guatemala with flat tires, a broken shock mount and a hole in the oil pan due to the bad roads. Took us 24 hours to drive from Belize City, Belize to Guatemala City, which is about 150 miles. Did I mention the guerillas? They were there too. They didn't fuck with Americans back then.

Wouldn't trade that experience for anything. Check out the movie "Salvador". We didn't see any of the killings, but the rest of the movie is dead on.

The thread dredged up a strange memory from that time period. There was a former co-worker of mine who was a little... off. He acted sometimes like your best bud, others like your worst nightmare. (Today I'd think he was either on or off his meds depending on the mood du jour).

Right after the Johnstown Flood had hit, he was all excited about the thought of going down there to help in the clean-up... just figured we'd drive down, show up, and be put to work as conquering heroes, or something like that. I didn't think that was such a good idea, and I wasn't about to quit, crappy as the job was. Besides, I was more than half afraid that he might slit my throat or something one night... yeah, he was that scary when he was in a dark mood.

Last time I saw or heard from him... it was the week before Valentines Day, I was in the student union building helping the K3CR guys collect radiograms for VD from the students (remember the year... this was LONG before the internet as we know it, let alone cell phones). He showed up, saw me, and openly threatened to punch me out or worse for harassing his girl friend. He wanted me to "meet him outside" right then and there. I simply told him it wasn't me... when he asked why, I told him that I didn't even know his girlfriend's name, let alone anything about her, so how could it be me? At that point the Campus Police showed up & asked him to leave... I never saw him again. Thank goodness.

Any time someone mentions women, there had better be pictures provided for membership evaluation. Must we officially amend the rules ? :snicker:

Then again, you're only as young as you feel...

Welcome to the Island. I think the bartender will be along shortly to card you. ;)
