Taken Christmas day. This is my best side! Those of you with sharp eyes will notice I need to dust and the picture is posed, the rig is in RX.

Clean looking station. However, looking at you now and on your avatar, I'd say "Get a haircut!"

What is wrong with being in RX mode, I spend 3/4 of my time listening and taking notes?

Its one of the best things a station can have...an operators good ears.

Nice. I'd upload a new pic of my shack, but a pic of an old HTX-202 isn't very exciting.

Where the hell is the rig?And is that thing on the speaker a CB?

The rig is under and in the middle of the two monitors, blue with a white border and lettering.
Just behind the yellow LED flashlight in the center. Phone camera "auto" settings suck.

The "CB" is a class-T audio amplifier fed from a mixer (offscreen) with 5 "inputs", currently.
Working on my other mixer for the TX audio chain, the mic is currently straight into the rig.

Here is a typical screen setup when I'm on the air, using PSK. First image is the left screen, second the right.

Yes! Haircut! I just shaved a 11 month growth of beard off for Christmas!
I pulled the mic up so it would appear that I was Transmitting. I too spend most of my time listening.

I write them all down so I get them in the log correctly, but I use a computer log for everything. N3FJP's ACLOG3.3 Exclusively. Absolutely the best $20 I ever spent!

The Flex PowerSDR software really looks sharp! I've been seeing the Flex 1500 sellin pretty cheap recently also. I might look into one the next time I'm rich for a day....... Is the rig really as good as they say it is?

I'm running the Flex 3000. It's a little better on RX specs than the 1500, and of course, does 100 watts. The PowerSDR software has always been fun to use. With recent firmware upgrades, the radio is even better.

Use a trackball with a rotating ring instead of a knob. Works great.

If I was going to get an SDR for receive only, that Perseus looks real interesting.

Yes, but the Perseus is old school and costs about the same as the Flex 1500.....used. I hear QRP is fun too! Grab the kids laptop and out to the lake we go!

I see a little blue box. Is that the flex 3000?

PS: I had to look it up. The only flex I have ever seen is the big PC tower looking one. Well that and the QRP unit. Have never seen a blue one, until now.

Edit: Had I read further, you already answered my question.

Holy hell, I just looked at the flex 6700, $7,500. That is $4,500 more than I have ever spent on a radio, lol. Also, 4k more than the flex 5000. Though, provided I ever get around to being back in the states, the 3000 would be interesting to have in my office. Right under the monitor. Though, I am not sure I will put a radio in the office at all. We shall see if my hobby leaves the shack and finds the office. Beings it will be a shared office with my wife, doubtful. :P
