I went to the Nations Gun Show in Chantilly, VA this afternoon. It was absolutely packed but this year was different. This year there were a bunch of anti-gun protesters outside and a few inside who were completely ignored. The recent events and the pressure to limit the sale of firearms has fueled a run on guns. Some creep gave me a bunch of crap while I bought a gun but the cops ran them off in about 30 seconds.

I was looking for a Sig 226 Tactical Ops (9mm) but had to settle for a more expensive model because all of the 9mm versions of that model were sold out. The only Tactical Ops models they had in a full size were .40 cal and I just don't want a .40 caliber. Tomorrow I'm going back to look for a 7.62 rifle if I can find a decent one under $6,000.00.

The protesters can kiss my butt, I intend to own firearms.

Obama gonna take all our guns!

Yep. Along with our knives and fishing poles! (rehashing the meme from 2008 )

From the practical standpoint, now is definitely the time to sell off all the semi auto rifles and 10,000 reloading components I stocked up on during the Clinton Assault Weapons ban and Hillary ammo tax scare. Now is the time to be selling firearms and not buying!

Great.

Just what we need. Another fucking paranoid gun thread.

Well as long as we are on the subject, does anyone own a .40 cal and can they give me their impressions of the .40 vs 9mm.

Go with the .40 S&W. There's a reason law enforcement agencies are switching over to .40 cal from 9mm.

I'm seriously thinking about it but I have heard the .40 is harder to control than the 9mm but has way more knock down power.

Yes. Stopping power and it's about shoot to kill and not prevention or disarming a situation.

I never liked the 9mm, had the Beretta 92 FS, sold it fast.
The .40 caracteristics come closer to the .357 magnum, and is more effective for self defense or sportshooters.
I have the .357M Desert Eagle, the S&W 686 in .357 M.
Good calibre to reload, parts and components easy to get and cheap.
Same goes for the .30 M1 Carbine with 15 and 30 round magazines, good for 100 to max 300 yards with the 3 x 9 50 mm scope mounted.
The .22 LR Walther target pistol i also own is for plinking and some serious competition.

The one gun thread to rule all gun threads is here: https://forums.hamisland.net/showthread.php/24268-The-Gun-Debate-The-one-thread-to-rule-them-all

There will be only the one.
