It looks like public works now has an opening. Must not have anything like OSHA there. It does look like he had on his steel toe sandals, however, they are in the next town over along with his foot.

Which brings up a good point. Why is it called a "man" hole cover? Look at the size of it.

I remember at a company I worked in a maintenance man testing for a gaz leak by holding a match up to the pipe joints and valves. I told him to stop and let me get a few blocks away and then to carry on.

if they're that phhhkkknnnggg stupid in China, maybe we don't have to
worry about them dominating the World quite yet....
I do not think that stupidity respects national borders.

Seriously, if the leak is small, I've found the nose test is best but you can buy a gas "sniffer", a domestic version of the type gas supply companies use. What's the betting they're made in China?
Ironically as well, a Chinese engineer to whom I showed a new PC component that I'd bought was amazed by the price I'd paid. He said that in China it would cost a lot more than that, and that was going by the current exchange rate, disregarding the difference in pay scale.

your nose knows...that's the reason that Methanethiol AKA Methy Mercaptan is added to
odorless natural gas supplies....when you smell it you know that natural gas is present:yes:
OSHA lists the safety threshold as 10ppm...an odor threshold of only 1ppb has been reported:yuck:
it is highly flammable....ever heard of lighting farts???

You must have missed something in this thread.
There were some attempts to light farts when I was at school but they all failed. Our elderly Biology teacher said there was too much water vapour present, more steam than gas did he mean?

It works with compressed air, it should work with farts.

I wonder if they add the stinky taggant to gas supplies in other countries?
