I do not have any cats, never have. I have had 3 dogs and a budgie. Currently no pets in the house.

Now I have nothing against cats. ( I think they make great pets if they are in a barn killing mice :-D)
But for the life of me I can not understand why hams would let their cats crawl all over their equipment? I think cat hair is not a good thing for radio equipment.

Many heavy smoker hams feel exactly as you do.

I have had both and I also like dogs better. My dogs are now gone and we are left with two cats. I don't mind them I just like dogs better but the cats are cool and they don't hag out in my shack either. I don't want cat hair and crap all over my equipment. By the way, I love KG4CGC's Corsair, that is a great radio.

No cats in the shack, but there are dozens (and dozens) of feral cats living in the neighborhood. They mostly sleep during the day, and come out at night to roam the streets and hunt other critters.

I don't think I ever saw a pet cat when I was down your way.

The Mexicanos seem to like them killing critters.

I have 2 cats, no need to take them out when conditions are good, self supplying in going out through a permanent open window, cat litter place, just add food and fresh water daily, in winter they hog the heater, in summer the sunray's outside.
And the odd cat of the 2 on the lap to keep me company.

I love animals. Cat's dogs, fish, lizards, turtles, goats, bears, etc. I also love pets. However, having lived with both cats and dogs most of my life I no longer like to keep free roaming pets in the home. I simply don't have the patience to take care of most of them. However, I recently "inherited" a diabetic cat from my brother. He gets a tiny shot of insulin every day. He used to get a different insulin twice a day but he was prone to low blood sugar attacks where he would get weak, and sort of walk around as if drunk and if not treated promptly would get very weak and unable to move, eat, etc. At that point I needed to get sugar into him by either putting honey or maple syrup on his lips or tongue. With the new insulin he just gets a little bit once a day and so far he hasn't had any adverse hypoglycemic attacks. In any event he will be staying with me until further notice. He is a nice looking little guy, I'll try and post a picture of him.

These days I like to keep tropical fish. I had a nice tank going for about 20 years and am ready to start a new tank this spring. As soon as I get done with some housecleaning and painting I am going to set up my aquarium once again. In the past I kept bigger tropical fish and channel catfish that demanded live food like blood worms, tubifex worms, gold fish, guppies, and brine shrimp. If they didn't get the food they wanted they would punish me by attacking my smaller fish... and they were smart...they would always go for the most expensive ones. When I set up my new tank I am going to keep aquatic plants and smaller fish that will eat flake food and are more economical. Big fish are too expensive to keep these days.

I need pets like Lil Bit who tells me when she needs something. Fish would be too quiet and I'm sure I'd forget to do something they would need.

I am trying to figure how to claim it as a DEDUCTION on the 2012 Income tax form. Must be a smart tax guy out there who can find an ANGLE to sneak that in!

I have always liked tropical fish, but haven't been able to get a TANK going yet in Crest. Must be a way. Mostly we barely have room for a 5 gallon tank, less a 100 Gallon tank!!! I want some fish to TEASE the cats! We DO have a 15,000 gallon fish pond out in the back yard, well stocked with GOLDFISH, that have grown to nearly a foot long!
