Trying to get together for an Islander 40M QSO, General Band. KJ6BSO is coordinating, with WU9G. At 0000 UTC.

That would be me, I think.

I could just barely hear you....

K6BSO
12-15-2012, 07:27 PM
Same here, barely out of the mud. Just heard you call CQ

N1LAF
12-15-2012, 07:30 PM
If it was a little quieter, it would be easy to hear, your modulation quality is excellent

K6BSO
12-15-2012, 07:35 PM
Same on this end, what I could hear sounded good. But we exchanged call signs and signal reports so we can both chalk up another Island QSO.

There is SSB activity activity on your PSK frequency

Pfft.. I only operate 7.125 to 7.175.. Generals? Pfft.. as if! ;)

I do a lot of 40m phone when I'm in the car, the problem is.. I'm not in the car much. I don't have anything setup at home.. :-|

Kind of rude of them. That's not just my, frequency, it's the generally accepted PSK freq and it's way down in the CW section.

N1LAF
12-15-2012, 07:40 PM
Still monitoring 7.1825
It is clear of QSO

K6BSO
12-15-2012, 07:41 PM
You up for some 40m PSK, Paul? 7037.15 is the usual place for digi-heads on 40.

N1LAF
12-15-2012, 07:48 PM
I am going to give one more call on this frequency

K6BSO
12-15-2012, 07:49 PM

I got about a S5 - S7 noise level on 40M

And the occasional tune-up

N1LAF
12-15-2012, 07:54 PM
Carl has good sounding modulation, and if the noise level was just a little bit less, I would be able to hear him fine. Carl was S5, S6 here.

Pretty good splatter from 7.1800

N1LAF

OK, time to head to 7037.15 for some PSK action....

K6BSO

N1LAF
12-15-2012, 08:06 PM
Did you hear my call?

K6BSO
12-15-2012, 08:10 PM
No, I didn't see it at all. Try a few more times.

K6BSO
12-15-2012, 08:14 PM
Not seeing your trace on the waterfall, Paul. Let me try calling you and see if that works.

N1LAF
12-15-2012, 08:15 PM
I see a strong signal at 7.037.119, if you see it also, we could use this to ensure our freq readings are tracking

K6BSO
12-15-2012, 08:19 PM
Paul, I'm not sure how the display on the '7600 works but when you're tuned to 7037.15, you should see many PSK signals across a 2 kHz bandwidth. I'm seeing at least a half-dozen at the moment.

N1LAF
12-15-2012, 08:20 PM
Another strong station on 7.037.107

N1LAF
12-15-2012, 08:28 PM
Looks like I have a +/- 300Hz window on the waterfall display

N1LAF
12-15-2012, 08:32 PM
UT2FC calling CQ on 7.7.037.108

K6BSO
12-15-2012, 08:32 PM
Yeah, I just found a YouTube video that shows what you've got. Pretty slick, but the window is kind of limited in bandwidth. I think that if you get on a clear freq between 7037.15 and 7039.15 and transmit, I'll be able to find your trace.

K6BSO
12-15-2012, 08:34 PM
Remember you only need to be 100 Hz or so away from an adjacent signal

N1LAF
12-15-2012, 08:40 PM

One of my favorite 2-meter radios sitting in the PSK spot. The PSK computer is being rebuilt so I can't join the fun, but Da Bowl is rollin' pretty good from the Caribbean this morning...which means 10 should be in good shape to the area:

IC-2KL/AT-500 combo.

If it's anything like a PW-1, there's probably an imbalance between the RF modules.

When I got my first amp (AL-811), there was no need to have 220. When I got the AL-80B, it took about an hour to run the 220 line from the sub panel. Fortunately, it wasn't a long run. I think it was less than 30 feet. Worth every bit of trouble.

The pivot point on the lower right of the door assembly collapsed. Earlier today, I cleared the broken area, cut a piece of 2x4, glue, and replaced that section of the door. By now, the glue has set, I dropped a couple of finishing nails into it, then drilled the hole, and mounted that pivot point. Reassemble, mount door. Fixed.

HA!

Yes, he did...

You got 75, Mayor Art? (Sorry, reference to a 60's kid show in the SF Bay Area)

https://diva.sfsu.edu/collections/sfbatv/bundles/208796

Wow...wonder what ol' Mayor Art was snorting. Those kids looked pretty dubious about the whole enterprise.

But yeah, I do have 75 meter capability. I can fire up something with a bit more power than the Argonaut V, but those rigs are out in the cold cold shed. Maybe we could set up a sked this weekend some evening? (Maybe we could get really wild and join the 3.843 gang with k6zar (Zombies are Real!) and his cohorts. Well, maybe not. I'll just throw out a frequency and time and we could all adjust it from there? Maybe:

LSB, 3.710 +/- 10 khz and QRM at, say, 0300z (8pm Mountain Time) on Saturday night?

I'll only be running around 100w to a doublet up 30 ft with either an HT-37 or an FT-101zd.

Sitting on my ass in front of the TV with a laptop.

80 is a real stretch here; 40's better. Maybe 20? Have some time off coming up and will pay attention.

What antenna do you have for 40? I can probably reach out and "touch" you right now. CO isn't hard to reach at this time of the night.

I in my shack quite often early in the evening, and most of the time during the day. So if anyone wants to set up a sked just email me. When I am in the shack my email program runs constantly and checks for mail every 5 minutes.

I have all the bands covered from 80 up to 6 meters. No 160 antenna, I do not have the room.

Digital or phone, sorry my CW skills are lacking.

I have decent antennaz for 160m, 80m, 60m, 40m, & 17m. I can work other bands, but I'd need time to get the coupler set up to work.

My station is down temporarily; I built a patch panel to let me switch various antennas to various radios. Unfortunately, I ran out of time before I could make up the necessary jumpers.

I will try to get on the air this weekend for sure. I want to test that 15m Moxon I built and the SSN is up to 95 as of today so there may be some propagation.

As I have some spare time on my hands, I am up for a sched or two for the next few months. At present, I can be found on 3.878 in the mornings from about 6am-ish until 8am, when I QSY to 3.856 until about 10am or so. I forgot to connect up my sound card interface prior to my becoming unable to do such for a few months, but am good to go on voice and CW. I say that, but please consider the fact that I am not a south paw and that is all I have to use for CW at the moment.

That may be, but given what Jimmie (BX5AA) is running, he wasn't hearing me @ 100 watts. Take a look at his station on QRZ. Even with all that, he was only 5/4.

BTW, I should probably try 12m more often. 4X4FR 18:57Z 04/30/2013 24.961 55/55 ;)

That was 100W.

I know, that is the reason i keep the SB-1000, mostly for 160 but sometimes for the other bands as well 6dB can make or break a contact.
