Hopefully, we'll have clear skies here too. We tend to be overcast every time a good light show is going on.

Last edited by NY3V; Today at 09:19 AM. Reason: Wrong Song, should be "De Debil Went Down to Jawjaw

If you wanna hear "Debil Went Down", then listen to it from a Jawja band. Matter of fact; the feller's from here in Dahlonega.

If you're outside watching them you're not inside working them. Now are you astronomers or hams?

I got my photography ticket when I was 19. I was just over 36 when I got my ham ticket. (this is the South, it's called a ticket)
This might not mean anything to you but my momma makes biscuits.

Watch them when you're not working them...take a break and look up.

Meanwhile, the one day of the year in Vegas where it rains has arrived. I love rain so i wont complain.

I was hoping to catch some meteors, but we also need the rain.

So when do the Germans start throwing the rocks tonight?

I walked out onto the deck about 10:45PM and saw three in about five minutes, then came back up and crawled into the ole four-poster and called it good.

Yes, I believe it's a portent of the end of the world that's going to occur seven days from today.

We went out to watch the meteors last night. Most of them were skimming along the atmosphere from generally the northeast to the southwest, but we did see one that went from south to north. This was between Elgin, IL and Dekalb, IL with partial overcast. Many of them shown through the clouds.

I told the kids about this and I let them stay up late to watch. We put a loaf of pumpkin bread in the oven and then went outside.... Only to find that it had clouded up and there was no hope of seeing any meteors. Needless to say, we were all disappointed.

Around 10 P.M. it was partially cloudy outside and some nightclub was running one of those promotional searchlights that scan multiple beams of white light across the sky. I still managed to see one meteor trail after a few minutes of viewing.

Later, around 3 A.M., the sky was very clear (and no searchlight). Despite the general city light pollution, I saw a meteor trail every couple of minutes.

Cloudy last night, pissing down cats and dogs now, no chance to see anything this year...

We have a local ordinance against meteor showers.

Im sure my HOA will find a way to fine them for dropping rocks in unapproved areas of the desert.

I found a huge Christmas tree farm where there are no houses or street lights. Still had glowing light penetration from 3 directions.

You could always drive for miles out into the desert. Remember that scene in the Doors movie?

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember saying something like "I feel a bit lightheaded. Maybe you should drive." Suddenly, there was a terrible roar all around us, and the sky was full of what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, and a voice was screaming "Holy Jesus. What are these goddamn animals?"
