Facebook is useful for keeping in touch with family and friends. That said, I like to have face-to-face contact. The internet will never replace real life.

Only had that problem with one of them, and she gave up after realizing I was involved and not interested in her anymore. Unfriended me, thankfully.

Another one was a FB friend for maybe about a month. After my getting into an argument over one of her many religious postings, she unfriended me as well. Those of you who have seen me post about religion can imagine how that went.

None of the others have tracked me down via FB. That's probably a good thing. ;)

That's exactly what I was thinking. I'm really fucking tired of people running down this hobby. And it's so ironic, because the people running it down are people who are in it. If the hobby sucks so fucking much that you have to bitch about it, find a new one and let the rest of us who enjoy it, enjoy it. Ham radio or Facebook is only as stupid or smart as the people using them. Ham radio isn't stupid unless people use it in dumb ways. I hear a lot of stuff on ham radio that seems like a waste of bandwidth to me. On the other hand I hear a lot of interesting discussions about a wide variety of topics on ham radio. Same with Facebook. If you use Facebook to show off and act like an idiot then yeah, it is dumb. But many people use it sensibly. Ham radio, FB, etc. are merely communications mediums.
