Nope. Still lying in bed and I smell bacon cooking downstairs. Truthfully though, I'd rather be working, so don't feel bad.

I am off also and on a paid holiday..... But I have had Black Friday off for the last eight years but not Thanksgiving day. This year was both...... Woo Hooo.
Oh yeah, my lazy ass is still in bed looking at a refrigerator at home depots black Friday ad. Telling the wife it will be her Christmas gift...
Any one have advice on a halfway decent digital SLR camera.....LOL

Kind of. Down in the office reading a couple documents and sketching out a few thoughts for a conference I am facilitating this next Wednesday. Sunday will be a work day though--as a bunch of stuff that needs to go out Monday morning will be prepared.

Today is "German Breakfast" day. For the past decade, the day after Thanksgiving we have made this a tradition. A German breakfast consists of all different kinds of cheeses, meats, breads--coupled up with lots of coffee, butter, and eggs! I am getting an urge to get into the Camembert and Stilton right now...

It may be a steal but just a bit out of my price range..... I would be maxed out at about six and hoping to get a zoom lens also...

The refrigerator will be putting a big dent in the account..

If it doesn't have to be a DSLR, the Canon SX50 is looking good (friggin telescope on a camera -- I want one, but have the SX40):

Real steal (today only) on a really great pocket cam:

I got this deal last year on the S95; probably the best deal I ever got on a camera -- love that thing.

I'm off (but doing some household chores) and 'DSG has to work until 10:30 tonight. I'm gonna go play radios with an area ham friend after she leaves for work and I get some things done around here.

Oh, wow. Way to give the customer choices, after getting a budget lead.

Good job, now close the deal. You want a gig at Wolf Camera? ;)

My wife & I are both off today. We went for a bike ride and hike, now we're back at la casa and after she finishes drying her hair, I'm thinking we might go indulge in some Mexican Food.

Yup. I was a light day though...put this hardwood in a bath suite. The materials were straight and true, which is sorta unusual these days.
Please forgive the pic quality...Motorola phone shot.

Bobcat, I'm pretty sure, right here in one of largest urban areas on the west coast. Kewl.

Wow, looks like a big bathroom. That toilet location looks kinda out in the open. I get nervous with out a wall to lean against when I fall asleep.:chin:

The wife and I spent the day emptying the bedroom of furniture and repainting it. Saturday we get a whole load of new bedroom furniture delivered.

Just got in from driving "X" hundreds of miles to Spartanburg SC. and back. Yes Charles, had there been more time I would have called you so we could FAJITA. But this being a holiday (bullshit muffled in a cough) I wanted to get back to enjoy the final 3 hours of it. Traffic through Atlanta this morning was pretty good. Coming back was a different story. P.S. The State Troopers are everywhere, especially in SC.

Yup. Not much of a brand fanatic here -- my true advice is to "play before you pay". Canon and Nikon are both great and have a lot of stuff at every level. Other brands, too. Sony has nice stuff, but I've been boycotting them for eons.

If you're new to DSLR's, it probably won't matter much (they're all good). If you're new to digital photography in general, I'm not sure that a DSLR would be my first choice. There is a lot out there to choose from and the compacts these days are quite good. $500 will buy a top-end compact camera that has almost everything a DX sensor DSLR has except the interchangeable lens. Check out the Canon G15.

I got into Nikon purely for the ergonomics -- feels "right" to me. Have used Canon DSLR's, too (5D MKII and others). Some like Nikon, others Canon. You know how it goes, but if you're going with a DSLR, I'd advise a bit of "playing" before you buy. Reason? It kinda locks you into a system where lenses and accessories are concerned. You can't mount a Nikon lens on a Canon, etc.

Been into photography since I was a six year old and the advancements are amazing. Main camera here is a Nikon D7000 (almost 2 years old now), but I use the little Canon S95 quite a lot. The D7000 is more of a "computer imaging device" than a camera. Bastard has more settings than a Yaesu. Took it to the T'giving family soiree yesterday with a SB-800 flash. Think I did okay, no friggin way I'd do this with film.

If it weren't for the ten buck salary, I'd be interested.

Not even sure how to respond to this.

I'm easy. But real tired these days. Walk a mile in MY sandals, brohuck... ;) Started a blog a few years ago; called it "Dreams and Misdemeanors." Thinking of reactivating that. It's odd that I just don't have the energy for hate any more. It's too much work and the benefits are nil and in 20+ years of social networking, I've yet to see a lion change it's stripes. We are what we are.

If either of us could change the world with a wish, we would have done it by now.

And I'd like to add a little sparkle while I'm here

Go for it.. The 75-300 zoom will be fun, but it's not quality glass. The Target deal doesn't seem bad here.

It is for the xyl...
It will be replacing an old fuji point and shoot that looks like the dslr.... I can always upgrade the lenses at a later date as long as canon fits canon...

No matter. Ever change spark plugs in Dodge Dakota? You'll use every ratchet, every extension and every universal socket joint and whatnot to get out all 6 in the V6. I've changed plugs in many things, as I'm sure you have too. The Dodge Dakota is an adventure in fuck.

No. It's the G series even though DX and ED are still in the name. That "G" in the name means "Goober Glass." The Moon is NOT supposed to have a Rainbow Ring around it.
