To all Islanders and yes, to you too Mr. Lurker, A Very Happy Thanksgiving. May you watch "A Christmas Story", "Miracle on 34th Street" and "It's a Wonderful Life" for the first time this year, tomorrow.

Hot open faced turkey sandwiches smothered with gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans and corn on the menu. Trying to keep the weight off.

You'll shoot yer eye out kid.

Happy Thanksgiving (a day early).

Believe me, it's always better a day early than late. I'm always thankful when it's early.

Today we add Tryptophan to our usual list of mood and mind altering substances. So don't chew and drive!

Just to demonstrate that it is indeed an ill wind that blows no good, this T-day is going to be a stress-free holiday due to the fact that the XYL is on the outs with about 3/4 of her entire family over the issue of her daughter and grandkids. Just gonna be me, her and the M-I-L, which is just fine with me.

Speaking of health care, :hijack: I'm curious about your health coverage when you travel out of country. Do you have to get some kind of temporary coverage, or how does that work? I have always wondered what happens with someone that has a health care system like Canada or those in Europe when they travel Internationally and get sick or hurt?

They take a Flight for Life back home, if possible. Only CIA propped up dictators come to the USA for medical treatment.

My medical coverage is courtesy of the B.C. medical plan which I basically pay for in my taxes is good in the province of British Columbia and is valid if I travel to any other province in Canada.......it's when you leave Canada to visit another country then it's mandatory you should have some travel medical insurance because if you get stuck in another coutry injured or seriously ill the provincial medical plan will not help you! ......... I will not leave the country without a travel medical insurance policy to be on the safe side.........i've seen cases were you literally pay an arm and a leg for emergency medical help at a U.S. hospital for an individual who did'nt have travel medical insurance.....
